Lot 1885
1873-CC Liberty Seated Dime. Arrows. NGC graded MS-65. A full-blown Gem, sharply struck and toned in gorgeous, golden-brown earth tones highlighted in blue. The obverse is lighter than the reverse, and more uniform in appearance. The reverse features a lighter center surrounded by wine-red, orange-yellow and autumn leaf colors. This is a fabulous condition-rarity example in the finest grade obtainable. The 1873-CC With Arrows Dime is extremely rare in all grades, but especially so in Mint State. This is the ONLY date in the entire series that is a no-show in Mint State on the PCGS Report -- there, every other date is represented by at least one Mint State example! For its part, NGC has graded only 3 Mint State examples, all at the MS-65 level. We know of only this example and one other in NGC MS-65 holder, so the third example is most likely a resubmission of one or both coins. Until this coin came on the market in 1990, the only Mint State 1873-CC With Arrows Dime was the Norweb example!
Unpriced in the Guidebook above EF, and justifiably so, as none exist between AU and MS-65!
Estimated Value $190,000 - 210,000.
