1857 Coronet Head Half Cent. Mint Error - Curved Clip at 3:00. NGC graded MS-63 Brown. Some faded Mint red still present; otherwise, the coin is olive-brown and wine-red in color. The clip is very minor but can be seen on the right side of the obverse, where a depression in the rim can be seen (the clip prevented the metal from flowing into the deepest recesses of the die). Half Cent errors of any magnitude are rare and desirable, especially on this tougher, last-year-of-the-type issue.
Estimated Value $300 - 350.
