Lot 1554
1866 Indian cent, repunched date. NGC graded MS-65 RB. Error variety not noted on the holder. The final 6 is doubled, mostly at its top, and clearly so. About 50% mixed red and golden brown. Sharply struck and very pleasing. Probably worth about double what a regular date would be.

Lot 1555
1939 Jefferson 5c. NGC graded Proof 67. Reverse of 1940. FS-023. For collectors of errors such as this, the present example represents an exciting opportunity. Its gleaming mirrorlike surfaces are essentially perfect, so nice in fact that it would be hard to say why this isn't called 68 or even 69. It lacks nothing!

Lot 1556
1943-P Jefferson wartime 5c. NGC graded MS-67. DDO. FS-029. Major error variety, for this type, showing the doubled eye. The date and obverse legend, obviously, also show delicate doubling from the "hopped" master die, or hub. Probably the nicest example known, but aside from its numerical grade this coin exhibits truly lovely, original surfaces and "nickel" color. A delight for the error specialist!

Lot 1557
1934 Washington 25c. NGC graded MS-64. DDO. FS-009. This is one of the most distinctive doubled dies, with all the legends of the obverse clearly showing twice. Long known, too. Listed in the Red Book and given valuations. Apparently fewer than a thousand are known to exist (after all these years of frantic searching!), most of them being circulated. This example is one of the very finest to be had. Only a few ticks exist on George Washington's cheek, neck and ponytail. All obviously occurred at the mint or at the time of distribution, for the surfaces appear undipped, with original brilliance enhanced by a delicate pastel lilac iridescence. If dipped, its luster would be blazing! It is the cataloguer's opinion that this coin emerged from an old Pennsylvania estate some five years ago, where it had been held since the year of issue.

Lot 1558
1971-S Eisenhower $1. NGC graded Proof 66. DDO. FS-015.8. The Cherry Picker's Guide estimates that just 3 or 4 are known. Brilliant Proof with light cameo. Handsome!
