Morgan Dollars

Lot Photo Description Realized
Lot 1502
1901. PCGS graded MS-63. One of the truly tough dates to find even half decent. This coin's high end, we think. The cataloguer likes this coin a lot, though its color may not please everybody. Reverse almost fully white. Obverse a different story: bright gray with all the luster showing through, if you can "read" toning well. Probably the color came from setting in a wooden chest. We like it! Let's buy it!

Lot 1507
1902-O. NGC graded MS-65 Prooflike. While one of the hoard dates to appear in massive bag quantities, very few of this date remain in gem condition. Far fewer of those are Prooflike, which is one of the special appeals of this coin. The fields show the familiar mirroring to the early strikes. Best of all, the surfaces are clean, and very free of bagmarks, keeping this in the gem class. Lightly toned with a ring of dark gold around the periphery, and white at the centers.

Lot 1511
1903. NGC graded MS-67. Dollar collectors know this is a neat date, even if the population of nice ones has grown over the years. It's not an 81-S. Generic? Not when it looks like this beauty: almost flawless surfaces, really attractive light silvery gold toning with some hues of blue. A true gem!
