1924-D. PCGS graded MS-62. A nice example with light golden toning. Fewer marks for the grade. A better date which records a mintage of just over 3 million coins which was vastly reduced in the 1930s to approximately 1,200 coins today in all grades. This one is particuarly nice, and like the 1924-S in this sale represents a scarce date and mint due to the excessive meltings that went on when gold coins were called in 90 years ago and melted en masse (PCGS # 9178) Estimated Value $6,000 - 6,500
The Santa Barbara Collection.

1924-S. PCGS graded MS-62. CAC. Premium Quality. A nice frosty coin showcases satiny mint luster over light yellow-gold surfaces. A better date with approximately 1,000 thought to exist in all grades, most of which are in mint state condition. That's not many coins to go around for collectors. This one has nice yellow gold color and a sharp strike. The surfaces are pleasing as well for the grade. Today we know that of the nearly 3 million struck, only a tiny number survived for collectors to find today (PCGS # 9179) Estimated Value $7,000 - 7,500
The Santa Barbara Collection.
