Lot 730
1814, 4 over 3. PCGS graded MS-61. CAC. BD-1. Premium Quality. Just graded at PCGS for the first time. Well struck with full and complete devices. Furthermore this coin exhibits bold die clashing evidence in the form of sharp horizontal shield lines visible around and below Liberty's ear on the obverse, an outline from the eagel's wing in the field behind her head too. On the reverse portions of LIBERTY from her headband are visible along the lower right side of the shield. There are believed to be about 100 examples of this date known in all grades, the vast majorty melted by the 1830s asthe price of gold rose well above the $5 face value of this coin. A frosty example with lovely light golden toning. It sure looks MS-63 to us. The overall presentation is quite pleasing. Pop 3; only 31 examples are graded by PCGS in higher grades, the others are: 14 in 62, 1 in 62+, 11 in 63; 4 in 64 and 1 in 64+. Estimated Value $20,000 - UP

1891-CC. PCGS graded MS-63. CAC. Housed in a PCGS Old Green Holder. Well struck. We think this coin is close to MS-64 and is worthy of a strong bid as such. Of the original 208,000 pieces struck for the year, perhaps one percent of those survive, around 2,000 coins. The finest seen today are a few MS-65 pieces, with the vast majority either circulated or in much lower grades than seen here (PCGS # 8378) Estimated Value $6,500 - 7,000
