1885. NGC graded Proof 68 Cameo. A magnificently preserved superb Gem half dollar with strong cameo contrast and appealing rainbow toning of teal, rose, gold and deeper blue on the reverse. Such incredible quality for this early and scarce proof issue. A scant 930 pieces were coined in Proof, and this is one of the absolute finest seen. Not only are the surfaces essentially perfect, but there is also desirable Cameo contrast between the mirror fields and the frosted devices. A simply splendid superb gem example of this scarce date. Pop 2; finest grade at both PCGS and NGC. Estimated Value $15,000 - UP
