Rare and Unusual, Austrian .800 Silver Cigarette Case with a Secret Hand Painted Enamel Panel of a Playful, Rubenesque Nude Woman. Unusual 800 silver cigarette case with a nice weight to it. Plain angled pinstripes surround the case and when opened, the normal gilt washed interior and straps speak to a very common case. However, pushing against the top button (with clasp to right) opens up the case to a wonderful, hand painted nude in superior condition. The artistry is remarkable, in no way just a novelty portrait. Note: the buttons and clasps are tricky but operable which evidently was on purpose to keep prying eyes from seeing the nude. Such an unusual piece; a wonderful case from days long past. Delightfully risqué.
