Lot 27
Fr. 229 $1 1899 SC Serial #V1111111. This beautiful $1 1899 Silver Certificate Fr. 229 sold serial number V1111111 has been graded PMG 40 EPQ Extra Fine. It has become more and more difficult to find Extra Fine large size notes that still carry the EPQ designation. This gorgeous note faces up more like a 55. Solid 1's on a $1 bill from 1899. A must have piece for any serial fancy number collector. Estimated Value $4,000 - 8,000
We've seen some amazing auction results in 2022 for eight digit solid serial numbered $1 1899 Black Eagles. The Z99999999Z sold for $90,000 last year. While we don't expect this note will bring a price in that neighborhood, we note that result as a reflection of how strong the market has become for fancy serial numbered large size type notes. This is a seven digit solid serial number bearing seven 1111111s in a row.
Our estimate is likely far too low considering the rarity of this note. We do want to give all bidders a chance to land this wonderful piece of history and have chose to open the bidding at an exceptionally low level. Its last sale was on eBay back in 1-9-2018 at $3200. We expect a far stronger result today, five years later.

$1 FRN 1999 C11111111B. $1 1999 FRN Serial Number C11111111B graded PCGS 64 Very Choice New. This is a striking note with exceptionally bold inks, both green and black. The image just jumps off of the note. Estimated Value $2,400 - 4,500
The demand for solid serial numbered notes, both small and large size has absolutely gone wild over the past four years. Multiple new bidders have entered the marketplace and are willing to pay prices that continue to break records. If you doubt this, check the auction results we've included in the preface of this sale. These bid results are consistent with auction appearances of solid serial numbered banknotes at other auction houses in 2022.
Solid #11111111 one 1 dollar bill always brings out the competition.

Five years ago this note might have realized $1000 at auction. Don't be surprised to see it sell for $2000 to $3000 in today's sale.

Gem Unc $1 1999 L22222222Q. This is a lovely match to the four other solid serial #22222222s featured in today's auction. This note has been graded PMG 65 EPQ Gem Unc. Estimated Value $2,000 - 4,000
This great banknote came from the Mel Wilmore Collection sold nine years ago by Lyn Knight. At that time a solid serial number 22222222 selling above $1000 was considered to have done well. Today this note would be reasonably priced today at double that price.

Gem Unc+ $10 1999 BD22222222A. PMG has awarded this $10 1999 FRN BD22222222A a grade of 66 EPQ Gem Uncirculated. The embossing is cavernous and the ink just jumps off the note. Estimated Value $2,200 - 4,400
As we stated in the preface to this sale, a coin that earns a grade of 66 or 67 can bring multiples of what a 65 will bring at auction. In the case of special serial numbers, this is unlikely because collectors realize what they are buying is most dependent upon the serial number rather than the technical grade.

$1 SC from 1935A B33333333C PMG 66 EPQ. PMG has graded this beauty 66 EPQ Gem Unc and it is real joy to look at. Three years ago you might be able to buy this note for $2000, but today we expect it will hammer at $3500 or more. $1 1935 Silver Certificate serial #B33333333C. Estimated Value $3,000 - 6,000
Silver Certificate solids used to show up with some regularity. That's not the case any more. We are delighted to feature several in today's Black Horse Collection.
The vast majority of uncirculated Silver Cert solids are residing in 63 or 64 holders. This beauty sits in a 66EPQ holder, which is no small accomplishment.

1935C $1 Silver Cert M33333333E. This $1 1935C Silver Certificate M33333333E has been graded PCGS 63 PPQ Choice New. It is in our opinion superior for the grade. Estimated Value $2,500 - 5,000
We just love these Silver Certificates with solid serial numbers. The BEP will never print them again, and there never seems to be a sufficient supply to satisfy all of the collectors who want to buy them.
What were only a few years ago, notes like this selling for $1200, now realize double to triple that number at auction in 2022.

100 note Gem FRN pack F33333301H to F33333400H. You are looking at a Gem Crisp Uncirculated pack of 100 notes put away two decades ago. None of the notes have been graded but all are as fresh as they day they were printed and are very well centered. The top note is a $1 1999 FRN F33333301N and the bottom note is F33333400N. Naturally the solid serial number F33333333N is inside this terrific pack. Estimated Value $2,800 - 5,000
Most folks that locate a solid serial number pack, break it up and sell it as three or four separate lots: 1) XXXXXXXX, 2) 9 notes XXXXXXXA's 3) 9 notes XXXXXXAX's and 4) 8 notes XXXXXXAA. This is one of two opportunities in The Black Horse Collection auction to obtain two solid serial numbered packs.
Inside you'll find: F33333333N, 9 note set F33333330N - F33333339N, 9 note set F33333303N - F33333393N and F33333311N - F33333399N, all in pristine condition.

We remind bidders that when you are pursuing the rarest of special serial numbered notes, and that the price difference between a CU and Gem CU can be relatively minimal. As wise collectors realize….you are buying the serial number, not the technical grade.

Ultra Rare $10 1934 era solid serial #44444444. A well preserved $10 1934A Federal Reserve Note bearing the solid serial number C44444444A has been graded PMG 55 EPQ About Uncirculated. This note's rarity is simply off the charts. While there is never enough supply of small head notes to go around, 1934 FRN small heads are in a different rarity league than the 1963 to 1995 issues. Estimated Value $5,000 - 10,000
The Baeder census shows a total of only 12 1934 era $5, $10, $20 solid serial numbers combined for all denominations $5 - $100. (There are Zero known $50 and Zero known $100 1934 era solid serial numbers.) Considering that there are over 1000 1963 - 1995 FRN solid serial numbers known, this gives you an idea of how rare this note is. Don't under-estimate just how scarce this spectacular piece is.
We are of the opinion that this note should bring $10,000 or more, due to how rare it is. We'll start the opening bid very low to allow everyone to have a chance to snag this wonderful note for their collection.

This seven digit solid serial number is simply gorgeous and will be an important holding in any special serial number collection. Estimated Value $5,000 - 10,000
This is an exceptionally high grade for a fancy serial numbered black eagle. Most uncirculated examples we have seen are in 62 to 64 holders; as excellent margins on Black Eagles as far less plentiful than other Large Size Type Notes.
