Award Citation, one page, folio, St. Petersburg, Nov. 26, 1790. Written in black ink in neat secretarial hand, the Empress addresses and praises Lieutenant-General Baron Karl F. Knorring and awards him the St. George Cross, 4th Class for the taking of the Fortress of Ochakov in 1788. Catherine signs below in large and bold hand. Historically important, issued to a prominent General. Estimated Value $3,000 - UP
Condition: Choice and well preserved.
Karl Fyodorovich Knorring (1744-1820), Lieutenant-General of the Russian Empire; participated in the First and Second Russo-Turkish Wars; Military Commander and Inspector-General in Eastern Georgia (Kartli-Kakheti) during the time of its incorporation into the Russian Empire, 1801-1803.

Silver Chamberlainâ€s Key from the Court of Catherine the Great (1762-1796). Length 7 ½ in (192 mm). The head of the key is formed by a crowned Imperial eagle, shield on its breast with the crowned cipher of Catherine II. Foliate-entwined fluted shank, ending in a leafed ball, the key bit in the form of a St. Andrew Cross. Very rare 18th Century decoration. Estimated Value $10,000 - UP

Written in ink in neat, secretarial hand, the decree says: â€Due to the testimony of His Royal Highness, the Commander-in-Chief of Communications, Duke Alexander of Württemberg in regard to the excellent diligence and activity of Colonel Baron Meyendorff†and Captain Bestuzhev, We award Meyendorff the Order of St. Vladimir 3rd Class, and Bestuzhev the Order of St. Anne 3rd Class. We command the Chapter to deliver to them the letters and badge of those Ordersâ€. The emperor signs with a flourish below. Estimated Value $1,500 - UP
