Kurt Kaufman. Kitchen Ware Designs. Kurt Kaufman has proven to be over the years a brilliant designer and among his many accomplishments: Conceptual artist and designer for Industrial Light & Magic, including hardware, concept vehicles, interiors and more. Check out his site (http://www.kurtkaufman.com) Back in 1981, he found himself contacted to design a line of cookware for a woman looking to break into high-end cookware. These are two of the original designs by Kaufman and in spite of the product, the art is stunning. These are worthy of framing and would be quite at home in any contemporary kitchen area. Both measure 14 x 25' and are only lightly tacked to foam core. Both in very fine condition with scant evidence of handling. Framed these would prove most winning.
Note: We reached out to Mr. Kaufman and he confirmed these were his original designs and quite amused to see them again after 4 decades. Estimated Value $250 - 600
From The Personal Collection of Michael James Jackson.

Käthy Kollwitz. "Death & Woman". (1867-1945) Early 20th Century German artist of considerable acclaim and by the beginning of WWI, she was one of the most prominent graphic artists in the country and known for her various social, political associations. When her son was killed in battle in WWI, it only fueled Kollwitz's anti-war sentiment already visible in her early works of war and poverty with unflinching images of tragedy, of women grieving lost children and other galvanizing subjects all important and recurring themes.

L. H. Vance. "New Sheriff In Town". L. H. Vance, a portrait artist in Chicago painted this absolutely wonderful portrait, oil and charcoal on board, of a young boy, with dreams of Cowboys and Indians apparent in the background. "New Sheriff in Town" or "Careful, You'll Shoot Your Eye Out" are two titles we were given by the estate. It is thought that this is the KISS record producer as a child but no written confirmation to that. He is dressed in a red cowboy hat and red silk cowboy shirt just like one of his singing cowboy heroes he enjoys at the movies. One of the very best children's portraits Goldberg Auctions has offered, the colors are exceptionally vibrant and the portrait itself beautifully rendered. This could easily been the cover of any number of magazines from the era or a fine children's storybook. This is premium 1950s kitsch and would be a highlight for any interior with an eye for mid-century modern. Estimated Value $600 - 1,000

Barrett DeBusk. "Bathwater Serenade" Wire Sculpture. Barrett DeBusk has been making a splash with his metal and wire sculptures for over 30 years, many of which are public installations throughout the nation and certainly available in the finest galleries. Whimsical best describes his 3-D wall sculptures and they are all kinds of charming. Here he has captured a more Southwest or even Western themed work of a cowboy in a stock tank taking his bath while serenading to the moon and stars. His works are all originals, no two alike and certainly the case here. While the image certainly captures his artistry, in person, the layers of his sculpture creates a joyful, eye-popping effect on a blank wall. This work measures 25 x 34" and can stand on a table against a wall, or very easily be hung with picture hanging hooks. The sculpture is not heavy weighing less than 5 pounds. "Signed" along the right side in meta, DeBusk. Do indeed research the artist and note that this work is one of his very best. Estimated Value $400 - 900

Aurora Studios: Outstanding Collection of 70+ Original 1913-15 Nudes Found Recently in Crawlspace of Historic Beverly Hills Home. Aurora Studios in the early 20th Century created a series of black and white "Fine Art Female Nudes" that posed models in neo-classical environments and poses. These photographs were silver gelatin prints printed on double weight paper and were available in a variety of sizes. Orders were discretely filled by their sending "proof" cards, each with 20 images which the purchaser selecting by sheet number and serial number. This collection was found very recently in an historic home designed by Richard Kieffer on Rexford Drive. What is remarkable, the home has remained unchanged for 90 years and was only recently acquired by the original family with many of the original furniture pieces/books remaining. In exploring nooks and crannies, the new family discovered in a somewhat sealed crawlspace was this collection of fine art nudes.
To that end, quite a few of the photos have chipping, some water damage, border tears, and cracks. But the great majority have survived nicely. It was decided to keep all the pieces found together in this lot. Even those damaged have great appeal due in fact to their evidence of age and condition issues. Also included are two of the proof cards which are evidently very rare. It is not uncommon to find Aurora Studios photos to sell from $60 to $150 each. So in spite of the mixed condition, this remains quite the collection. Check out the other lot of photos in this auction found at this home; "75 Antique Photographs from Italy".
