1860-O. PCGS graded VF-30. A lightly toned example. This issue was struck as the Civil War loomed on the horizon and most of these are found in low grade today--if they are found at all. High grade examples are downright rare and seldom found. Here is a particularly nice coin for the date collector or New Orleans specialist. Only 40,000 pieces struck. A favorite date of Dr. Ruby (PCGS # 4632) Estimated Value $1,700 - 1,800
From the Blackhorse Collection.

Lot 478
1883. NGC graded MS-64. Housed in older NGC holder. Well struck. A frosty white coin that is most pleasing to examine. It is noteworthy that dime production skyrocketed during the years 18979 and later while quarter and half dollar production dropped to nearly nothing. this was in part due to the massive influx of saved coins that came back into circulation in 1879 once the value of the gold to the greenback paper currency returned to par. This ratio had been greatly disrupted by the Civil War and it took another 14 years once hostilities ended to get gold back into circulation. Estimated Value $300 - 330
From the Blackhorse Collection.
