  Wilt Chamberlain and (then) Lew Alcindor: Two Very Scarce Vintage Original United Press International Photos (UPI). Early vintage original news photos can be very hard to find. Offered are two vintage original UPI photos with photo credits clearly stamped on verso of both.
1.) From February 27th, 1957 a photo of Wilt Chamberlain in his University of Kansas uniform prior to leaving to play with the Harlem Globetrotters and then onto the pros. Dated with captions line on verso and UPI licensing stamp with terms of use.
2.) From May 4, 1965, while still in high school (and prior to changing his name to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in Fall of 1971), "Basketball prep star Lew Alcindor sits in his Russian History Class at Power Memorial Academy after announcing he plans to enter UCLA next fall. The seven-foot-one-inch Alcindor will give the UCLA Bruins their first really big man in recent basketball history. John Wooden (1910-2010) "The Wizard of Westwood" won ten National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) national championships in a 12-year period as head coach for the UCLA Bruins, including a record seven in a row.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (1947-), then Lew Alcindor, played for UCLA from 1966-1969 UCLA winning 88 regular season losing only two while there.
"And I'm so thankful, you know, I learned from this man from Day 1 until the day he passed, and since he has passed I'm still learning from my experiences with him. He was an incredible human being."

Very sharp and fresh 1962 Topps Baseball Bucks insert of Mickey Mantle, the key to the set. The 1962 Topps Baseball Bucks set consisted of 96 baseball Bucks that measure 1¾x 4". The "Bucks" were originally packaged in their own penny-packs, or folded and inserted into wax packs of 1962 Topps regular issue baseball cards. This example has been stored flat and properly archived for decades and while it has the normal factory fold it has now rendered all but invisible.

Carl Erskine (1926-) celebrated pitcher who played his entire career for the Brooklyn and LA Dodgers, Erskine still holds the record for the most strikeouts in a single game during the World Series. Post career, Erskine coached for 12 years at Anderson College and authored two books. Offered is a complete LA Dodgers #17 uniform (Goodman athletic wear size 46 from Erskine, Pants 36/ 28 with Erskine #17 hand printed inside waist) a new Dodgers cap (Authentic Collection Size 7¼) and some great photos with descriptions handwritten on verso of the players present and the game played. Also included are practice pants, 10 newer sports cards featuring Erskine, a portrait photo, boldly signed by Erskine and a handwritten note on his casual letterhead.   Rare, Vintage, Jeff Hamilton NFL Jacket Signed by Ten 1990s Sports Broadcasters Including Namath, Brown, Montana, Bradshaw, Aikman. Jeff Hamilton, French/American designer who found his calling designing NFL, NBA and collegiate team jackets known for their superior craftsmanship and expert use of color; some reaching prices over $5000. This exceptional vintage jacket was auctioned for a considerable amount in 1991 and was signed by NFL greats who also found themselves in the broadcast booth. Players signed are Joe Namath, Jim Brown, Fran Tarkenton, Dan Marino, Joe Montana, Walter Payton, Terry Bradshaw, John Elway, Troy Aikman and O.J. Simpson. The jacket is in excellent pre-worn condition with all autographs executed in silver marker but do exhibit some "dusting" common with metallic pens. NOTE: We have been asked if the signatures are permanent and no, they could be removed by professional leather cleaner. To fix permanently, a clear fixative would be recommended.   Football: 10+ Signed Pieces: Two x O.J. Simpson, Don Long, 3 x Wayne Hardin, Jay Berwanger, and Yale University 1912-1913. Fine collection of signed pieces involving football. 1.) Two signed pieces by O.J. Simpson, one an excellent color 8 x 10" photo of a very snowy game while playing with the Buffalo Bills against the New York Jets. Certified authentic by James Spence and Associates. The second O.J. Simpson is a Sports Illustrated cover dated October 29, 1973 inscribed and signed.
2.) Jay Berwanger: Star halfback for the University of Chicago and was the first winner of the Downtown Athletic Club Trophy in 1935; the next year renamed the Heisman Trophy. 1930's era autograph both signed, inscribed and then initialed, the sheet lifted from and autograph book. Berwanger was also the first player drafted into the NFL.
3.) Dave Long signed commemorative cover
4.) Three 3 signed 3 x 5" cards by Wayne Hardin, legendary football player but most certainly coach for the US Naval Academy and Temple University. Later in life he was a color commentator for CBS Sports.
6.) Three letters all involving Yale University Football 1912-1913:
Vance McCormick Politician and Businessman, McCormick graduated from Yale's Sheffield Scientific School in 1893, and was given an honorary MA degree by the university in 1907. While at Yale he was a member of St. Anthony Hall. A born athlete and leader, he became captain of the class football and baseball teams his freshman year and was on the university football team his junior and senior years.
William Lyon Phelps: Historic orator and professor at Yale University and when attending, a very active athelete.
Thomas Shelvin to Henry H. Ketchum: Henry Holman "Hank" Ketcham was an American college football player who was a center and guard positions for the Yale Bulldogs football team of Yale University. 1.) Five pieces signed by tennis great Arthur Ashe. All obtained at the same time, one has been authenticated by James Spence and Associates. all the others also signed in green fine point ink, the images lifted from a biography.
2.) Typed letter signed by Olympic champion, actor and Congressman, Bob Mathias on a film studio letterhead while filming in Rome.
3.) George Best signed autograph page plus a portrait card from the National Portrait Gallery, London. Best is considered one of the all-time great players with Manchester United if not one of the best in the history of the sport.
4.) Althea Gibson, three inscribed and signed autographs by the great tennis and golfer, influential in breaking color barriers in both sports.
5.) Minnesota Fats, (Rudolph Wanderone) signed Atlantic City Brighton Hotel & Casino which became the Sands about a year later so that dates this piece 1980-81. Wanderone co-opted the name during the immense popularity of The Hustler.
6.) Florence Chadwick long distance swimmer, swam the English Channel successfully in 1950. Beautifully signed engraving dated 1975 printed on 8 x 10 stock.
7.) Gertrude Trudy Ederle very famous English Channel swimmer, August 6, 1926, 35 miles in 14½ hours.
8.) Ben Hogan Signed 3 x 5" card with an excellent 8 x 10 color photo.
