Late 19th Century Folding Graphoscope Stereoscope Viewer with Over 80 Stereoscope Slides. Hugely popular during the Victoria Era to the early 20th Century with the middle and upper middle classes were stereoscopic viewers that in most cases, brought the world closer. As evidenced in this collection, the great majority of slide are 19th Century images of China and its peoples. Some of the images are absolutely galvanizing, certainly images no motion picture has recreated or captured. This compact desktop viewer is etched "Graphoscope Patented 1875" and housed in a mahogany case has two kinds of viewers, one to examine the photo through a large magnifying glass. But viewing the slides through the double lenses gives a 3-D effect that is quite remarkable and fun. The Chinese themed slides are by Underwood and Underwood and all have descriptions on verso in 6 languages and all are in excellent condition. The 10 slides that are not part of the Chinese study range from art, and location shots around the world all showing minor age wear.

Wonderful 1930s Ecophone Cathedral Style Radio Model S5, Early 1930s. 'Echophone' wood cased cathedral radio model S5. This radio is very popular and collected for its shape and the elaborate grill that is made from repwood. This material was used mostly for decorative trim, speaker grill work, and is a composite of wood sawdust and glue.

This Echophone radio's wood cabinet and repwood grille work are in superior condition and again, immensely appealing. The original tubes and original plug are intact and inside cabinet. The speaker fabric is original but at some point in this radio's life, the fabric was painted in a complimentary tan. That stiffened the fabric and has made it a bit susceptible to cracking when punctured. Also at least two of the buttons have been replaced.

In spite of these issues, the radio still displays beautifully. 17 x 14 x 7" and weighs about 20 pounds. Estimated Value $100 - 300
