Lot 696		$20 National Bank Note. Housatonic NB, Stockbridge, MA. Ch. 1170. Fr. 650. PMG Very Fine 20. Stockbridge is located western Massachusetts, and is the home to the Norman Rockwell Museum. This was the only National bank to operate in town, having chartered in 1865. PMG mentions rust and pinholes on the back of their holder, with the rust mainly confined to the back left edge. Lot 697		$20 National Bank Note. Connecticut NB of Bridgeport, CT. Ch. 927. Fr. 650. Chartered in 1869, the bank would be closed in January 1921 and the First NB would assume its circulation. Lot 701		$20 National Bank Note. National Security Bank, Boston, MA. Ch. 1675. Fr. 652. PMG Choice Fine 15. National Security Bank was chartered in 1867 and liquidated on the last day of 1922. Signatures of Elmer Littlefield as Cashier and Albert E. Gladwin as President served together for the last five years of the banks existence. PMG mentions paper pull on back of their holder. During the years 1864 and 1865, seven different banks would charter in Salem, with the Merchants NB being the sixth it was the only bank to last the entire National Banking era, but did not issue small size notes. This Brown Back Five has stamped signatures of Henry Batchelder as Cashier and George. R. Emmerton as President, with both men serving together from 1883 thorugh 1887.
