Arnold, Henry H. "Hap" & James H. Doolittle, Typed Letter Signed. Typed Letter Signed ("H.H. Arnold"), one page, 10" x 7¼ in., Sonoma, California, Oct. 11, 1946. To Col. Ginder, accepting an invitation from the superintendent of West Point to be his guest at the Army-Columbia football game. He and Mrs. Arnold look forward to seeing their son Dave, who is attending West Point and adds, "Tell General [Maxwell] Taylor that we look forward to seeing Mrs. Taylor and him…." The type is faint but Arnold's signature is bold. In 1949, by act of Congress, Arnold received permanent five-star rank as general of the Air Force, the first such commission ever granted.
With a Postal Cover Signed ("J.H. Doolittle") on postmarked "Old Ironsides" Lincoln's Birthday Commemorative Envelope, 4 x 7½ in., San Diego, CA, Feb. 12, 1934. Fine.
