Russia. Grand Duke Mikhail Nikolaevich Monogram Badge as Inspector General. Breast badge, silvered and gilt bronze, 30 x 53 mm. Two part construction, superimposed part gilt bronze, reverse with screw. The badge's design is two crossed cannons with a Royal crown on top and the monogram "M" in the center. Dates "1856-1906" below. Badge with monogram of Grand Duke Michael Nikolaevich to commemorate the 50th anniversary of his serving as Inspector General of the Artillery, instituted in 1906. This particular model was issued for lower ranks. Number 3. 4. 11. 60 in the Kemp's catalog.
Overall good condition, toned. The back screw is somewhat crudely re-attached. Back part possible broken in the middle and then fixed. The back plate is not original to the badge and has a large hole so it is not holding securely. Overall, Very Fine. Estimated Value $100 - UP
