1824. Overton-104, Rarity 2. PCGS graded MS-65. CAC. PQ. A splendid example that is likely the very finest known and the only CAC example of the trio of MS65 examples known from these dies. The strike is glorious, with full curls on Liberty, the stars mostly sharp too. For the reverse the eagle's feathers are all bold, and the lettering crisp and sharp. The surfaces are stunning, truly a quantum leap above the typical lower grade seen. Notice the satin freshness of the fields, free of distracting marks, with luster intact and not limited by careless handling over the last nearly 200 years. A towering example with a fantastic pedigree that is nearly as old as the coin itself. Pop 1; tied for the finest examples graded at both services for the variety. (PCGS # 39624) Estimated Value $10,000 - UP

1861-O. CSA Obverse, FS-401 (FS-007), WB-102, Rarity 3. PCGS graded VF-20. A lightly toned example of this prized and sought after die pairing. Notice the thin die crack up to the rim from Liberty's nose, that confirms that this coin was struck during the Confederate operation of the New Orleans Mint. An historic issue and one that has been in high demand for many years. Pop 2; 21 finer at PCGS for the variety. Estimated Value $800 - 850

1875-S 50C PCGS MS66. PCGS graded MS-66. CAC. The obverse and reverse are bathed in lovely toning with mint fresh luster evident in the fields. The surfaces are worthy of long and pleasurable examination as so few of these exist so well preserved and this is borne out in the Population Report data noted herein. Merely 3,000 examples are estimated to have survived and this one is right at the top with just a few seen marginally finer. Amazing quality for the numismatist with an eye for quality. Pop 20; 5 finer, 3 in 66+, 2 in 67 (PCGS # 6351) Estimated Value $4,000 - UP

1875-S. PCGS graded MS-65. CAC. PQ. Light hint of gold and russet tone which spans both sides. A boldly struck coin that offers nice eye appeal and super clean surfaces. Close examination fails to find more than a couple of tiny nicks. This one has a tiny "S" Mintmark on the reverse as commonly seen in the era. Pop 54; 29 finer at PCGS. (PCGS # 6351) Estimated Value $2,800 - 3,000

1886. PCGS graded MS-65. Nice prooflike surfaces covered with lovely rainbow toning on both sides with russet gold and blue dominating. Boldly struck throughout, with strong definition on all of Liberty's dress folds and the eagle's feathers. The fields and devices are pleasing, with minimal signs of handling. A tough date to find this well preserved, and downright rare any finer! Only 5,000 struck for the entire year. Pop 10; 9 finer, 6 in 66, 1 in 66+, 2 in 67. 1905-O. PCGS graded MS-65+. CAC. PQ. Nice rainbow toning with a few deeper gold streaks on the back of Liberty's head and a few scattered specks before her face. The strike is rather sharp here, particularly for a New Orleans issue, with strong feather details on the arrows, and excellent surfaces and fields. The coin is outstanding in hand, with strong luster and no distracting marks. A condition rarity this nice and quite a challenge to find so attractive as well. Pop 4; 11 finer at PCGS. 1920-S. NGC graded MS-65. A brilliant untoned frosty mint gem. A better than average struck specimen with full separation of the fingers and nearly full head on Liberty. The surfaces are so incredible that they must be seen to be appreciated, as there are simply no bagmarks of any consequence. This is a memorable example and certainly worthy of a fantastic gem collection of Walking Liberty half dollars. Worthy of a very strong bid for the exceptional quality and original surfaces and color. Pop 38; 12 finer, 10 in 66, 1 in 66+, 1 in 67. Estimated Value $8,500 - UP
