George Hurrell Portfolio I. Set of ten 14 x 11" silver gelatin prints numbered and signed by photographer George Hurrell. Presented in their original case with supporting material from publisher Creative Art Investments. This is suite 52 of 190 printed. Eight of the photographs are in excellent condition but, interestingly enough, two of the prints show there may have been processing problems -- the Dietrich and Gable photographs show some discoloration probably resulting from developing technique. The discoloration occurred over time and would not have been visible to Hurrell and the developers working under him when they proofed the prints.

The unmistakable work of George Hurrell showcases not only the beauty of the twelve stars of these portraits, but also the subtle nuances he was so adept at capturing. Greta Garbo and John Barrymore posed for the movie Grand Hotel, Gary Cooper, Joan Crawford, Betty Davis, Marlene Dietrich, Clark Gable, Jean Harlow, Rita Hayworth, Katherine Hepburn and Loretta Young in the arms of Tyrone Power -- all familiar faces exquisitely presented by the best-known photographer of Hollywood's Golden Age.
Estimated Value $5,000 - 7,000.
