Walter Plunkett: One Complete Set of Six Costume Designs for GONE WITH THE WIND: All Signed and Numbered. WALTER PLUNKETT (California/New York, 1902-1982) Arguably one of the most popular films of the 20th Century, a landmark of movie making and box-office success that was based on a monstrous bestselling novel. MGM Studios spared no expense in the production and that included the costume designs by Walter Plunkett who worked on over 150 films during his incredibly prolific career earning him 10 Academy Award nominations and one Oscar. Walter Plunkett was involved with the signing and selling of this limited edition portfolio in the mid-1970s, featuring lithograph copies of his Gone with the Wind costume sketches. There was a limited run of only 1000 sets, each with five of his sketches of costumes for Vivien Leigh's Scarlett, and one of Clark Gable's Rhett. All sketches in this set are personally signed and numbered in pencil by Plunkett in the lower left just below the image and this one is numbered 342/1000. They are housed in a white folder, and separated by sheets of tissue. Also included is a full sheet with Plunkett's filmography, and a copy of a sketch of the artist himself. A very lightly examined, unrestored portfolio near mint folio with fresh, saturated colors. Estimated Value $300 - UP

Gone With The Wind: Rare, Original Roadshow Engagement, Oversized (Oilette) Lobby Card, Leslie Howard. MGM first released "Gone With The Wind" in a road show format in 1939, with reserved seats, and playing the finest motion picture palaces in the U.S. The marketing for the film was unprecedented with MGM spending considerable dollars on premium in-theater publicity items. Posters, lobby cards, photo sets and the like are highly sought by collectors for this landmark and much bleoved film. Offered is one of four images of the extremely limited sets created by artist Armando Seguso termed "oilettes" as the images appear as if oil paintings complete with pop-up frame. These were printed on cardboard stock and quite rare. Gable, Leigh, deHavilland and "Leslie Howard as Ashley Wilkes" were the only four actors selected for this special set. Image is 16 x 16" and with the frame about 19 x 19". This card has been provessionally framed with the pop-up trim intact but flattened. Some separations and one cut are limited to the pop-up frame otherwise the image of Howard is fantastic. Most definitely from the Roadshow Engagement and not from a lesser quality printing of these cards in 1968. Very fine condition with issues noted. Estimated Value $300 - UP
