Lot 1424
1851-O. PCGS graded MS-61. This is a scarce New Orleans Mint issue, which is available in most circulated grades for a price, but rarely is it found in Mint State. Here is a quite attractive Mint State example that displays handsome orange-gold color, strong luster and clean surfaces. The fields lack the usually seen handling marks found on most of these Type I Twenties. Liberty's curls show strong separation and her cheek is satin smooth. One hidden bagmark is noted on her upper lip. There are several microscopic raised marks on her cheek, neck and within her curls, these are from light rust on the dies, which likely formed during the hot, humid New Orleans Summer. A most beautiful example of this issue. Mostly untoned with lots of mint luster visible. Pop 4; 9 finer, 8 in 62, 1 in 63. (PCGS # 8905) Estimated Value $25,000 - 30,000

Lot 1425
1852-O. PCGS graded AU-58. CAC. PQ. Well struck and lightly toned. The surfaces are absolutely gorgeous here, with classic satin smooth fields and devices, showing only a few trivial signs of handling. The strike is bold too, with nearly full separation on all of Liberty's curls and the eagle's feathers. With a mintage of 190,000 pieces this is one of the more available New Orleans double eagles from the 1850s, so its worth waiting for just the right coin for your collection. This one certainly will please any specialist who has demanding tastes for high eye appeal. Reflective surfaces on both sides. Pop 46; 22 finer at PCGS. (PCGS # 8907) Estimated Value $12,500 - UP

Lot 1426
1859-O. PCGS graded AU-55. This is a rarely offered date and mint, and one of more popular and somewhat more obtainable of the New Orleans early Twenties. This one offers strong visual appeal as well as high technical grade. Only a handful are known this well preserved, with so little circulation evidence on the surfaces. The open fields are pleasing with minimal signs of handling or bagmarks, and similarly Liberty's neck and cheek are free of deep or detracting nicks. Horizontal shield lines from the reverse die are boldly clashed at the back of Liberty's jaw line above her ear. Nicely toned with a touch of coppery gold attesting to the originality. Some luster is visible. Issued on the cusp of the outbreak of the Civil War and no doubt a high value $20 gold piece that was squirreled away and saved for better times ahead soon after it was coined. Only 9,100 struck, with 75 to 100 examples estimated to have survived according to PCGS Pop Report. Pop 6; 6 finer, 3 in 58, 1 in 58+, 2 in 60. (PCGS # 8927) Estimated Value $45,000 - 50,000

1875-CC. PCGS graded MS-62+. CAC. PQ. Frosty, untoned and boldly struck. The surfaces are quite pleasing for this scarce and popular Carson City issue. Notice just a few thin nicks and bagmarks when closely examined. One mentioned for identification is a shallow nick on the bridge of her nose. The open fields are really fresh and clean, with strong luster and minimal signs of handling. A powerful example of this ever popular Carson City issue, and about as nice as most collectors could hope to find with so much visual appeal. Pop 10; 32 finer, 31 in 63, 1 in 64. (PCGS # 8974) Estimated Value $18,000 - UP
