Lot 311
1839 N-4 R1 Silly Head PCGS graded MS64 Brown. Lustrous light olive brown with peeps of faded mint red in a few of the protected areas on each side. Lighter reddish steel toning shows on the chin and nostril, and there is a stain of dark reddish olive brown on the bottom loop of the wreath ribbon. The portrait is very well struck and there is no hint of friction on the highpoints. The only contact mark is a dull nick on the right end of the eyebrow. LDS with worn dentils and flowlines on both sides. The dashes found on each side of the bottom of the 9 seen in the earlier state are gone and a clashmark from the ear shows over the N in CENT. Our grade is MS60. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. PCGS #37231. Pop 2; 7 graded higher at PCGS, 5 in MSBN, 2 in MSRB. Estimated Value $700 - UP

1839 N-5 R2 Booby Head PCGS graded MS64 Brown, CAC Approved. Lustrous medium brown and light chocolate with swipes of darker olive brown toning around the coronet tip and under the R in AMERICA. Sharply struck and quite attractive. There are no notable contact marks, but there are very faint traces of an old fingerprint in the field at stars 10-12. MDS with very fine radial die flowlines in the fields on both sides. A very nice cent that comes with an outstanding provenance. Graded MS60 by Del Bland. Our grade is MS60. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 4 finer: 1 in 64+, 1 in 65, 2 in 66. PCGS #37237. Estimated Value $1,500 - UP

Lot 313
1839 N-6 R2 Booby Head AU50. Choice glossy medium brown. Satiny mint frost covers the fields and protected areas and this cent is nearly flawless except for a small chip out of the rim at star 5 and a planchet lamination at NE in ONE that meanders to the first A in AMERICA (as struck). EDS with smooth, hard fields that show some fine die finishing lines on both sides. Just too bad about the small lamination; otherwise this cent has mint state eye appeal. But it comes with a nice provenance. Our grade is net AU50. PCGS would not grade this cent because of the planchet lamination. Estimated Value $350 - UP

1839 N-7 R2 Booby Head AU58+. Very attractive frosty tan and very light olive. Nearly flawless with great eye appeal. The only marks are two small spot of darker olive brown toning (not carbon) between stars 9 & 10. The rims are a bit uneven (as struck) and some of the dentils on the obverse are flat, but the central devices are sharp. A very attractive cent, so close to MS60. MDS. The fine die cracks at stars 2-7 are clear but there are no die clashmarks on the reverse. Removed from an NGC slab graded MS64BN (NGC label #314015-013 included). Pop 4; 3 graded higher at NGC for the variety, 2 in 64, 1 in 65. Estimated Value $1,100 - UP
