Lot Photo Description Realized
Lot 670
1859-O. PCGS graded MS-66. Boldly struck with lovely toning of greenish gold and russet iridescence. The strike is sharp and the surfaces are fantastic in quality. Although a fairly plentiful date, precious few look like this stunning jewel, and only couple of coins can claim to be even marginally finer. A delightful piece. Pop 6; 3 finer, 2 in 66+, 1 in 67. (PCGS # 6297) Estimated Value $9,000 - UP

Lot 671
1868. PCGS graded MS-65. Nice even toning and well struck with lilac gray and taupe hues. The strike is precise throughout. A scarce issue struck soon after the Civil War ended. Scarce this nice and certainly one of the finer examples known today, and this is borne out in the population data below. Excellent surfaces and downright pleasing in hand. Pop 5; 2 finer, 1 in 66, 1 in 67. (PCGS # 6323) Estimated Value $5,000 - 5,500

Lot 672
1874. Arrows. PCGS graded Proof 66+. CAC. Lovely and intense rainbow toning on both sides with shows brilliant blue and aqua around the rims, fading to fiery rose gold at the centers. The surfaces are incredible with no signs of handling or hairlines, as these coins were purchased at the time of issue and essentially put away in careful storage. Today they are not only numismatically important, but artistic masterpieces with their incredible toning. This is also a short lived type coin with the Arrows at the date, and finds ever increased demand for this feature from collectors. Only 700 struck. Pop 2; 5 finer, 4 in 67, 1 in 68. (PCGS # 6435) Estimated Value $15,000 - UP

1874. Arrows. PCGS graded Proof 65. Boldly struck. Lovely rainbow to gold and russet toning on both sides. A tough proof issue and always sought after for the Arrows at the date. The open fields and devices are exceptionally smooth and attractive. Fiery reflectivity throughout, and a stunning example for the specialist. Only 750 struck. Pop 15; 20 finer at PCGS. (PCGS # 6435) Estimated Value $6,000 - UP

Lot 675
1876-CC WB-33, Small CC. PCGS graded MS-63. Lightly toned with prooflike fields. The devices show considerable mint frost while the fields are reflective. Walter Breen examined similar example from these dies and declared that coin to be a Branch Mint Proof, this theory has since been discounted by others including Bill Bugert who specializes in these Liberty Seated Half Dollars. Other die pairings of 1876-CC half dollars exhibit similar reflectivity and frost. For an in depth discussion on this topic please see Bill Bugert's informative reference work A Register Of Liberty Seated Half Dollar Varieties Volume II Carson City Branch Mint specifically pages 140 and 141. What is important to realize is that this is a spectacular coin which offers satin silver frost on the devices, strong reflectivity and is scarce in grades even approaching this lofty level (PCGS # 6353) Estimated Value $1,100 - 1,200

1880. PCGS graded MS-65+. CAC. PQ. Lovely light golden toning which is quite attractive on the obverse with copious frost on Liberty, clean fields and great visual appeal. The reverse has more variegated toning that matches the color of the obverse. Well struck on all the devices and as commonly see for this rare issue, the fields are semi reflective. Only 8,400 struck. Pop 2; 26 finer at PCGS. (PCGS # 6362) Estimated Value $3,000 - UP

Lot 677
1887. NGC graded MS-67 Prooflike. Wonderful rainbow toning on both sides which is primarily gold and russet, with tinges of rich blues and oranges intermixed. Only 5,000 pieces struck for circulation as the countless private coin hoards set back during the Civil War came flooding back into circulation once the economic issues of that war settled out, mostly during the 1880s. Hence mintages on some coins declined dramatically for a decade or so as new coins simply were not needed in the channels of commerce. This stunning jewel represents one of the finest seen from this modest issue, with incredible eye appeal and gorgeous surfaces. Pop 2; tied for the finest MSPL examples graded at both services. Estimated Value $8,000 - 8,500

Lot 678
1899-O. PCGS graded MS-65. CAC. PQ. A frosty white gem that displays just a touch of gold toning but is mostly bright and fresh. The strike is sharp on the devices, and Liberty's cheek and neck show only a couple minute signs of handling. Scarce this nice and downright rare any finer. These Barber coins are quite popular and a complete set in various mint state grades can be accomplished with patience. Impressive quality! Pop 11; 8 finer, 5 in 66, 3 in 66+. (PCGS # 6484) Estimated Value $4,000 - UP

1901-O. NGC graded MS-66. Fully white with reflective fields. Softly struck in the center of reverse as commonly seen on this New Orleans issue, as noted on the upper right of the shield and into the right feathers on the wing. The surfaces are really clean, especially on a bright white coin. A condition rarity at this lofty level and worthy of a top notch collection. Pop 2; none finer at NGC. Estimated Value $10,000 - UP

1919-D. PCGS graded MS-64. Nicely toned with antique russet gold and and deeper lilac hues on both sides. This is as truely rare date and mint and one which is seldom available in any Mint State grade. The surfaces are outstanding with nary a nick or mark to be found. The strike is better than average with a well defined thumb on Liberty, but blunt definition on her central skirt lines. A condition rarity that is seldom offered this well preserved. Popular key date. Pop 80; 22 finer, 10 in 64+, 11 in 65, 1 in 66. (PCGS # 6578) Estimated Value $17,000 - 18,000
