1808 S-278 R3 PCGS graded MS63 Brown. Frosty golden tan and steel brown blending to reddish olive at stars 11-13. The surfaces are lustrous and the only notable marks are a shallow planchet flake near the dentils below the bust tip and a collection of tiny nicks or scratches at the top of the head into the field above. Later die state with flowlined fields but no rim cud breaks on the obverse. Our grade is net AU55. PCGS population 12; 7 finer: 1 in 64, 2 in 65, 4 in 66. PCGS #1543. Estimated Value $7,500 - UP

Lot 35
1809 S-280 R2 PCGS graded MS63 Brown. Lustrous light bluish steel brown with subtle rose faded down from mint color in protected areas. The only marks are several microscopic ticks high on the neck and an obvious spot of darker toning (not carbon) touching the ribbon left of star 10. Later die state with flowlined fields and die cracks at the top of the reverse. Graded MS61 and CC#3 in the Noyes census, his photo #69005. Our grade is MS60. A great 1809 cent and it comes with a wonderful provenance. The attribution and Eliasberg provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 2 finer in 64. PCGS #36466. Estimated Value $20,000 - UP
