Lot 826		1849 N-2 R1 MS60. Lustrous medium steel brown and chocolate with traces of mellowed mint red on both sides. Satiny mint frost covers this cent and it would be choice if not for two obvious planchet flakes in the dentils at stars 1 & 2. Otherwise a small spot of darker toning midway between the chin and star 2 is the only notable mark. E-MDS, die state i, with crumbling on berry 4 but no crumbling inside the top of the E in CENT. Lot 829		1849 N-3 R3 PCGS graded MS62 Brown, CAC Approved. Frosty light golden brown and olive with generous traces of mellowed mint red remaining visible on the reverse. Satiny luster covers the fields and protected areas and this cent has excellent eye appeal. Looks mint state but there is a bit of friction on the highest points of the devices. The only mark is a dull, light rim nick over star 10. E-MDS, die state f, with limited crumbling on the reverse. Our grade is AU50. Includes N-11 R1 TDS (g) with several rim cud breaks on the reverse VF35, and N-24 R3- TDS (d) with a large rim cud break from star 12 to star 13 VF25 but recolored net VF20 (CC#5 for the die state with only 8 confirmed examples in the Grellman census). No spots or stains, just a few trivial contact marks. A small nick on the upper lip can help identify this cent. M-LDS, die state c, with fine die cracks at MERIC. Lot 835		1849 N-16 R5 PCGS graded AU58, CAC Approved. Frosty medium brown and light olive with traces of very faded mint color showing in protected areas on the reverse. Sharply struck with just a hint of friction on the highpoints, but there are a few contact marks on the obverse. The notable ones are a few very light diagonal scratches or long nicks on the cheek, a diagonal nick on the rim under the 4, and a nick in the dentils above star 10. The reverse is free of marks and it looks mint state. EDS, die state a, with swelling inside the bottom of the 9 but no crumbling. A decent example of this tough die variety. Lot 836		1849 N-18 R6 PCGS graded Proof-62 Brown. Very attractive glossy medium chocolate brown and olive with steel overtones on the reverse. Sharply struck and free of spots or stains. The only marks are microscopic hairlines on both sides. The best identifying mark is a microscopic planchet chip on the rim below the end of the wreath ribbon (as struck). The mirrors in the obverse fields are deep while the reflectivity on the reverse is more subdued, as always on this variety. A nice example of this proof-only variety. Our grade is Proof-60. Lot 839		1849 N-22 R1 PCGS graded MS65+ Red & Brown, CAC Approved. Lustrous mint red fading to light steel brown on the devices with 85% of the obverse and 50% of the reverse showing mint color. The only marks are some darker toning at the E in LIBERTY, a speck of carbon left of star 9, and a puff of darker brown toning between the date and star 13. The reverse is flawless. M-LDS, die state c (Newcomb's old #6). The die lines from the curls are gone. A very nice cent with a lot of mint color remaining. Our grade is MS64+. Lot 848		1850 N-11 R3 AU58. A sharp mint state cent that was recolored frosty reddish brown and chocolate. Nearly flawless otherwise. The best identifying mark is a tiny planchet chip on the rim over the D in UNITED. Very early die state with smooth, very slightly reflective fields. A neat die state and a very sharp example of a variety that's difficult to find in mint state.
