Lot 530
1793 S-14 R5- Liberty Cap. PCGS graded Good-4. The highpoints of the devices are smooth but the rest of the planchet is covered with very fine roughness under rather glossy dark olive brown toning. The devices are a slightly lighter shade of steel brown. The only notable marks are an obvious rim dent left of the L in LIBERTY and fine vertical hairline scratches covering most of the portrait. The date is weak but easily readable, LIBERTY is relatively strong, and most of the legend on the reverse is visible. LDS. The bisecting die crack on the obverse is strong. Our grade is G5+ sharpness net AG3. The attribution and Widok Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 11 finer. (PCGS # 35492) Value $3,500 - UP

1794 S-18b R4 Head of 1794, Edge of 1794 VG7. A few points sharper but the fields and protected areas are covered with minor roughness while the highpoints are smooth. No verdigris and the only notable contact mark is a rim nick right of the bust tip. Mostly glossy medium olive brown and steel. LDS with a strong bulge at TED that obliterates most of those letters. Otherwise the date is complete and the legends are readable. Removed from a PCGS slab graded VG Details Environmental Damage and identified thereon (in error) as a "Head of 1794" type (PCGS label included). Value $1,000 - UP

Lot 532
1794 S-44 R1 F15. Sharpness VF25 but there is a spot of corrosion and verdigris at ED in UNITED plus specks of greenish verdigris in protected areas elsewhere on both sides, mostly on the reverse. The surfaces are mostly smooth and there are only a few minor contact marks. Mostly glossy tan and light brown with reddish brown toning in the fields and protected areas. LDS, Breen state V, with all the die cracks mentioned by Breen for the latest state of the variety. IBERTY is softly struck, perhaps from grease on the die. A double profile shows from the end of the nose down to the chin (a result of die bounce or shift). Value $500 - UP

1795 S-78 R1 Plain Edge VF25. Choice glossy medium steel brown and chocolate with frosty lighter brown and tan in some of the protected areas. Smooth and very attractive for the grade, nearly flawless. The only notable marks are a small planchet chip over the pole and another under the I in UNITED (both as struck). M-LDS, Breen state V, with bulges in the obverse fields but no crumbling on top of the 5. Value $1,250 - UP

Lot 534
1796 S-87 R3 Liberty Cap VG10. Slightly sharper but there are fine hairline scratches inside the wreath, all old and blended into the natural toning. The surfaces are smooth, free of corrosion, but there are some additional contact marks. The notable ones are an old scratch that bisects the obverse from LI to the end of the pole and a few minor rim bruises on both sides. The toning is a very nice and mostly glossy medium brown and light chocolate. M-LDS, Breen state III. A die crack connects the 7 to the truncation and there are small lumps from die rust around the U in UNITED. This cent was struck twice. The first impression was about 15% off center to K-7.5 and the second was properly centered on the planchet. Obvious design elements from the first strike are visible to the unaided eye including most of the date and significant portions of the wreath. Weight 162.0 grains. A neat mint error in spite of the contact marks. Value $1,500 - UP
