Nor does the Air Force or any US military agency have a flying saucer." Inscribed in top right corner "To Gen. Hoyt S. Vandenberg, with all good wishes, J. Burck. P.S. Stop Worrying!" Don Boyer Apollo 15 Original Watercolor: "Geologist On The Moon!" Also Signed by Moonwalker Dave Scott. Don Boyer who passed away over a decade ago, spent 16 years as the Art Director at the Johnson Space Center in Houston as well as a graphic artist for Lockheed Electronics. Over 15 of his space themed paintings are included in the permanent NASA/JSC art collection. Boyer proved certainly a fine artist but his humor sets him apart from many of the other great illustrators of space art. In this vibrant watercolor, Dave Scott, the 7th man to walk the moon, is clearly taken aback to see a claim-jumper at Hadley. Above the prospector's head is a large question mark as the rock he is examining is obviously nothing he has seen before. In the background, Jim Irwin is attending to the Lunar Rover. Don Boyer has inscribed and signed "Good job on a very profitable trip. This ex-lifeguard is very proud, Don Boyer". In the mat, Dave Scott has signed and inscribed "Geologist on the Moon! Dave Scott, Apollo 15 CDR. Art measures 13½ x 20", and is in fine condition. There is adhesive staining throughout art but quite remarkably, it does not take away from the piece as much of it appears to be watercolor. (Please examine photo). On verso Boyer has written his now obsolete address and phone number likely from lending out the art. A wonderful and colorful piece complete with Dave Scott's autograph boldly signed on mat. Estimated Value $600 - UP
