Two Japanese Woodblock Prints, Framed. Two Japanese Woodblock prints, framed. The larger piece clearly indicates a confrontation of some consequence. Woodblock boasts vivid colors but know there are faint insect damage down center, visible only up close, the inside mat a clever way to disguise. It remains quite a compelling piece, 14 x 20" framed to 17½ x 23". The other a traditional portrait of a Samurai in a high castle, a window showing an endless sea, again boasting wonderful colors. 12½ x 8½" framed to 21 x 16½". Two very appealing pieces. Lisbeth Zwerger. Flying Back To Kansas. Acclaimed illustrator Lisbeth Zwerger, winner of the Hans Christian Andersen Medal, illustrated a version of THE WIZARD OF OZ by L. Frank Baum in 1996 by New York/London: North-South Books. Publisher's Weekly raved: "Viennese illustrator and Hans Christian Andersen Medalist Lisbeth Zwerger takes a fresh look at L. Frank Baum's The Wizard of Oz in a large-format edition. Zwerger's fantastical, delicate, eccentric illustrations bear no resemblance to the vision of the movie; they make the classic tale new again." So popular were her illustrations that they were issued in limited edition giclées for sale in galleries. Offered is #54 of 100 of "Flying Back To Kansas" with the Cowardly Lion wiping tears, the Tin Woodsman sad, The Scarecrow's arms outstretched in farewell and Dorothy, taking flight with wind filling her dress, holding Toto in a basket. Signed in lower right corner by Zwerger, measuring 16 x 13", and framed to 22 x 18" and in mint condition. Original gallery receipt/COA from Every Picture Tells a Story, Los Angeles. A perfect addition for any child's room or the child inside every adult. Estimated Value $250 - UP
