Lot 1004
Apollo 15: 3-D Lunar Landing Map of Hadley Rille Inscribed and Signed by Commander David Scott. Rare Apollo 15: 3D lunar lading map of Hadley Rille, rilles being long narrow valleys believed to be formed by ancient lava flows. Apollo 15 Moonwalkers, Dave Scott and Jim Irwin drove their rover to the edge of the curving canyon and photographed possible layering in its eroded walls suggestive of stratified lava beds; unfortunately, results were still inconclusive. 3-D map has notations in blue fine rule chart tape of landing area and points of exploration. It has been signed in black pen "Dave Scott, CDR Apollo 15, 7/30/71 - 8/2/71 Hadley Base". Map has been professionally framed in a custom shadow box 39 x 35". Exhibits some expert restoration (the vacu-form maps are fragile) and now presents itself beautifully. A great piece. Estimate Value $1,000 - UP
