Exceptional Five Color Glass Overlay Snuff Bottle with Tourmaline Top on Carved Stand. One of the finest glass bottles in this auction. A five color, carved glass overlay in a branching floral motif, each with a different colored blossom, and differently overlaid on each side atop milk white glass. The more colors of overlay a bottle has, the more appealing and in this case you have green branching with flowers in red, yellow, pink and blue. The bottle boasts a tourmaline top with scoop and is 3 x 2". Bottle sits on a nicely carved wood stand as if the center of an unfurling flower. In near to mint condition and extremely appealing. Two Beautiful Rock Crystal Chinese Snuff Bottles Internally Painted in Exquisite Detail. Two (2) outstanding rock crystal snuff bottles internally painted with gorgeous scenes. 1.) Standing at 3" tall with domed glass top in burnt orange with unusual scoop of children playing hide and seek along a river bank that continues to the obverse of a fisherman in flat boat. Beautiful work, outstanding snuff bottle. 2.) 3 x 2" rock crystal snuff bottle with carved designs on sides with red glass top. Internally painted idyllic scenes in exceptional detail of two women reading beneath a tree, the obverse a woman guiding a child. Red glass top with scoop. Six Chinese Snuff Bottles Including Two Large and Two Medium Table Bottles and One Lovely Glass Overlay. Fine collection of six (6) Chinese snuff bottles. Starting with the two smallest, one is of cloissone with oneside resplendent with a peacock-like bird, the balance of the 3" bottle in beautiful deep blues and greens. The other bottle is a tear-drop-shaped bottle 3½" with wonderful ruby red glass overlay completely surrounding the bottle with a phoenix, a dragon and floral motifs with amber top and scoop. The balance are table sized snuff bottles: The largest 5 x 4 x 2" interior painted with wooden top and wooden scoop of 6 Chinese men in a garden setting. The second and third largest bottles are interior painted idyllic mountain and village scenes boasting nice details 3¾ x 4 x 1" flatted bottle with agate top, no scoop and the other 3½ x 2 x 1" green jadeite top no scoop. Five Outstanding Interior Painted Chinese Snuff Bottles Including Exceptionally Unsual Japanese War Subject. Five (5) outstanding interior painted Chinese snuff bottles. All boast wonderful detail but the stand out is a most unsual bottle of a Japanese pilot and WWII themes. Standing 3½" tall with jadeite top and scoop, one side boasts a magnificently painted Japanese pilot astride his bomber saluting, the obverse shows an Imperial Naval Japanese crewman saluting his planes in flight with a warship in the distance. Also included is a vintage bottle with an older Chinese scholar with text on the obverse, a mystically themed illustration of a woman playing a reed flute astride a giant carp with the obverse having her with a pair of deer and cart of fruit, with the last two bottles having idlyllic mountain village scenes with very pleasing bluish and soft green tones enhanced by their soft green jadeite top or blue glass top. Collection of Eight Chinese Snuff Bottle in Lapiz Lazuli, Agate, Porcelain and Glass. Collection of eight (8) Chinese snuff bottles with some particular stand outs which include: 1.) A large snuff bottle is 3¼ x 2 x 2" is of highly polished agate evoking a gourd with carved relief of butterflies in flight and two gourds with trailing vines. Bottle has matching agate top with no scoop and is beautifully crafted. 2.) A very nicely carved lapiz snuff bottle 2½ x 1½" one side having relief of two birds in a tree on a rocky cliff. Lapiz top with no scoop. 3.) Vintage interior painted glass 3" bottle of a Chinese empress with considerable text on verso, jadeite top with scoop 4.) A colorful "Thousand Flowers" enamel on glass bottle with red top and scoop. The balance are are two vintage glass bottles with modest design etched on both sides, one deep brown glass bottle with tiger's eye top and scoop and one cylindrical white porcelain with hand painted characters in a garden that completely surrounds the bottle with nephrite top and scoop. Collection of Eight Chinese Snuff Bottles Including One Exceptionally Carved Cinnabar. Wonderful assortment of Chinese snuff bottles 3 to 3½" in height. The snuff bottle in cinnabar is particularly fine with beautifully detailed carvings; one side an idyllic mountain scene, the obverse a lake scene with elaborate carvings of butterflies and fish down the sides of the bottle, an intricately carved cinnabar top with scoop. The balance of the bottles in glass, some imitation nephrite, all have colorful tops of agate, coral or glass and all have scoops with the green Bejing glass with gold flecks particularly elegant and striking. The other is of ink stone with a beautifully carved heron and blooming tree. Also included is a vintage interior painted glass snuff bottle with a total of 7 herons painted surrounding the bottle boasting great details and capped with a tiger eye top. Collection of Six Chinese Snuff Bottles Including One Very Unsusual Fruit Form in Brown Hardstone and one in Jadeite. Fine collection of six Chinese Snuff Bottles. The standout is originally from the Georgia Roode Collection, a brown hardstone fruit form snuff bottle 3¾" tall with carved wood top to evoke the stem complete with scoop. Very unusual and striking, boasting a remarkable organic feel. Another is a lovely small jadeite bottle only 2¼" tall with hints of spinach green throughout, traditional Chinese etched symbol on both sides; jadeite top without scoop. A third significant piece is an antique glass snuff bottle with bamboo and floral design and traditional mask designs on sides complimented by a metal top with blue enamel band and light red glass with scoop on nicely carved wood stand. The other bottles a black glass overlay on milk colored glass, black glass top and scoop, a fiery red and yellow glass mottled bottle with green mottled glass top and scoop. Collection of Eight Snuff Bottles Including One of Chalcedony, One of Mother of Pearl, One Tibetan and Three Interior Painted Bottles. Nice collection of seven Chinese (and one Tibetan) snuff bottles. The standout of this lot is one bottle of carved chalcedony (the greyish bottle mottled brown glass top) that boasts beautifully carved relief of birds, floral motifs and a curious cat looking up. The designs completely surround the bottle and the quality is quite fine. Measuring 3" x 2" bottle is topped with vintage glass top of browns with original scoop. Also three interior painted glass bottles one boasts a heron on one side and a rooster on obverse with replacement top and scoop, the second quail in a floral setting with an idyllic mountain scene on obverse and a third glass bottle with nice details on each side with a single color of black ink mountain scene, possibly a transfer of exceptional detail, green glass top and no scoop. Also a light tan glass bottle with red glass top and scoop, a white porcelain bottle with aqua top painted on both sides with men in traditional robes, and a small Tibetan style metal snuff bottle with small carnelian cabochons at center on both sides. Tallest interior painted bottle has 5 musicians entertaining a woman of some means in great detail with writing on verso with rust agate top and detached scoop. Second bottle is interior painted of gorgeous cats in lovely garden settings, different images on both sides and exquisitely painted with coral top, no scoop. Third is heavy glass bottle with carvings on edges, and interior painted with masks, jadeite top with scoop. The fourth a bottle of some age, idyllic mountain side painted on one side, floral motif on verso with bright red glass top with scoop. Two glass overlay bottles, one in blue of two monkeys with the verso of three flying bats, jadeite top with no scoop. The other is soft green glass overlay over clear glass of a potted plant, a heron and both side having butterflies in flight with lapiz top and scoop. Eleven (11) snuff bottles with five vintage interior painted bottles: one particularly tall at 3¾" with both sides having different idyllic scenes of mountains, trees and lakes with jadeite top and scoop. Two with crickets, the clearer bottle of some age with mother of pearl top, the brown bottle a jadeite top, neither with scoops. Other bottles include a male portrait with Chinese writing on verso, a bottle with a pair of lovely young woman and the obverse when older, an oval bottle of children playing on one side, the obverse riding water buffalo in a river, and a larger, likely recent, tranfer of a 100 villagers. Collection of Nine Snuff Bottles: One of Carved Agate with Flying Bats in High Relief, Also Bottles in Glass, Porcelain and Enamel. Terrific collection of nine (9) Chinese snuff bottles. Of particular note is a finely carved agate bottle with high relief carving of two bats mid-flight and squirrel in dark browns due to the darker bands of colors within the agate. Also included is a flatted bottle with red chilong on yellow snowflake glass and hardstone stopper, a large, table snuff bottle interior painted with a different pair of cats on both sides, and four (4) striking glass bottles one in green, two red (snowflake glass and a vintage stained red bottle) with the last bottle a swirl of browns and creams. A painted porcelain bottle of a robed Chinese man walking, water gourd on back. His head detaches which functions as the top with scoop. The standout is an elaborately fashioned bottle of agate in gourd shape with attached carved rings; a very impressive piece. with one side having a naturally occuring depression in the stone. Next is a lovely carved bottle of red cinnabar with idyllic village scenes carved on both sides each along a flowing river. Collection of Six Beautiful and Unsual Snuff Bottles Including Green Stone and Mother of Pearl. Interesting collection of unusual snuff bottles boasting great visual appeal: 1.) The tallest bottle is 3¼" and made of heavily carved porcelain and brick colored glaze boasting a phoenix on one side and a five fingered dragon on the obverse with agate top with scoop with metal trim at neck and top. Also included are 2.) a simple, elegant bottle in green hardstone and greenish black hardstone top and scoop. 3.) a beautiful bottle of mother of pearl with geometric designs along sides and shoulders with high relief birds on one side and a fantastical flying beast on the obverse, with a mother of pearl top with scoop. 4.) a delicately painted glass bottle that at first look appears made of cloissoné but in fact intricately painted designs that when held to the light appear as if stained glass windows; gorgeous work with jadeite top and scoop. 5.) extremely intricate Tibetan style brass snuff bottle with astonishing scroll work accented with turquoise, carnelian and large carved tiger's eye medallions on both sides and have a carnelian top with scoop. 6.) three hinged medicinal metal snuff bottles with figural reliefs, screw tops with two of the three still having original scoops. Collection of 12 Chinese Snuff Bottles Including Two in Beautiful Jasper. Large, diverse collection of twelve (12) Chinese snuff bottles. Several standouts: One double gourd-shaped snuff bottle 3" tall with relief carvings on both sides in jasper boasting an explosion of earth tones, agate top with scoop. A second flatted bottle, 2¼" is also in jasper in lighter tones of salmons, creams and grays with top in same jasper and scoop. Both extremely appealing. The large brown glass table snuff bottle, 3¾ x 2½ x 1½", with the ceramic salmon and green banded top with scoop is still filled with snuff, the only such bottle in the auction. There are five (5) interior painted bottles, three of some age given their degrees of wear/wash. The other two are newer and quite vibrant. The balance is composed of two porcelain painted bottles with floral motifs, one contemporary ceramic bottle of a Chinese figure with basket, the lid of basket is the functioning top with scoop and a dark brown bottle in molded resin. Authentic Xiling Seal Art Society Exquisitely Carved Chinese Soapstone Chop with Documentation. Elegantly carved vintage Chinese wide red seal from the Xiling Seal Art Society in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, PRC. Soapstone seal (sometimes referred to as a chop) is carved on the sides to suggest outcroppings of rocks with elegantly carved silver pheasants at top, all polished to a dazzling gleam in creams, rusts, grays and browns. Original document inside box translates to Xiling Seal Art Society, Lai Weini, September 10th, 1979. We could not find a 20th century soapstone seal with the details this piece exhibits or with the elegance and appeal of the character stamp. In mint condition. 3 x 1½" and in original box. Large and Beautiful Mid-Century Chinese Cloisonne Bowl, Cherry Blossoms and Butterflies. Beautiful Chinese cloissonne bowl in a circular form on a short base in the style of Qing dynasty, resplendent in cherry blossoms, leafy branches and gorgeous butterflies in flight inside bowl and surrounding the outer walls in various shades of pinks, slamons, burgundy, and a wide spectrum of greens and earth tones. A ruji head border surrounds the lip of the bowl with every detail expertly crafted. All of these elements are set against a background of cornflower blue cloisonne with a subtle repeat pattern of tiny clouds in gold that finish the bowl to perfection. 4 x 12 x 12" and in excellent condition with only the slightest evidence of handling and understandable age spots. Rare Chinese; Semi-Translucent Green Carved Jade Tray With Foral Design Possibly 17th-18th Century. Rare, semi-translucent green carved jade tray of some age The quadrilobed, rectangular tray has a raised outer rim and a circular platform in the center, which is conformingly concave on the underside, and has a raised rim on top to accomodate the foot of a cup (missing.) Without the cup tray remains a significant piece and possibly late 17th early 18th Century boasting fine opaque mottling throughout. Tray is 6¾ x 5½ x ½" and is in flawless condition. This piece came to us with a GIA report evaluation dated January 29, 1975 confirming Nephrite Jade based on the refractive index spectroscope and ultra-violet light. This obviously led to an appraisal from a dowtown Los Angles jeweler appraising at $1750.00 on February 10, 1975. Estimate Value $2,000 - UP

19th Century Zhejiang Chinese Bed Panel: Made of Elm (Yúshù) Tongue and Groove Construction, Beautifully Decorated. 19th Century Chinese beds are some of the most beautiful handcrafted creations for a home during that could be imagined. Often times referred to collectively as "marriage beds", these breathtaking works appear as grand alcoves of luxury and privacy. This panel is from such a bed, painted in Chinese red with lovely carvings, some in exceptionally high relief and hand painted gilt images. This panel was a striking decor item that framed a mounted wall mirror in an entry way. It was a beautiful look but the owner in a previous home simply had it hanging and it brought almost two decades of enjoyment. It can do the same for you.

Six Exceptional Handmande Alaskan Indian, Native Grass Baskets. From several areas of Alaska, a collection of superior Native Indian hand made baskets, each piece an exceptional work of art. The art of the basket in Alaska is a significant and respected element of their culture and the traditions are being carried by new generations being mentored by older masters. 1.) The largest basket 3 x 4½ x 4½" is by Arlene Skinner of Kodiak Island, Alaska which she has entitled "Waves of Green". The basket is made of wild beach rye grass and silk thread for the colorful undulating decoration. 2.) The excellent lidded woven basked with straw finial in tone of olives and eggplant is from the Pratt Museum in Homer, Alaska and created by Judy O'Brien of Hooper Bay, Alaska 5" x 3½ x 3½" 3.) The smaller grass basket similar in style with red green and tan was acquired in a gallery in Anchorage, Alaska. 4.) Vintage Chinese letter box with brass repousse work and boasting three lovely, elaborately carved, open work jade panels inset within the rear and front of box with two loose panels that rest inside side slots that create a divider within the box. The rear panel is the largest with intricate foliate carving and is centered with a beautifully executed Phoenix. The front two panels each has a Foo Dog within a wooded setting. The center pieces are two thin panels that stack to create a slightly curved edge top and bottom. The effect is three beautiful tiers of carved pale green jade, complimented by the repousse work of the tarnished brass. 4 Imari Style (Chinoiserie), Early 19th Century, Mason's Ironstone Plates, England. Four early 19th Century and boldly decorated Mason's Patent Ironstone plates. All four have softly scalloped shaped edges and hand painted with iron red, cobalt and ochre in a chinoiserie these plates are in excellent condition, showing little signs of wear. Two have the transfer printed mark 'Mason's Patent Ironstone China' with Dublin retailer Thomas Higginbotham* (c1800-1830) and while all four plates are virtually the same design, the Higgenbotham pieces are slightly deeper plates than the other pair. The other two have "Mason's Patent Ironstone China, Morley's" and slightly flatter. Overall these plates are in excellent condition given their 150 years boasting no chips, breaks or repairs and display beautifully. Very collectible pieces. Estimate Value $250 - UP
