Rare, Authentic, Vintage Original German Nuremburg Trials Shoulder Patch in Bullion; Exceptional Condition. The Nuremberg Trials were military tribunals held by the Allied forces under international law and the laws of war after World War II, notable for the prosecution of prominent members of the leadership of Nazi Germany, who planned, carried out, or otherwise participated in the Holocaust and other war crimes. Collectors of history want the theatre made versions with a border usually in black with details in bullion. They all have the red flames at the bottom, the cracked eagle representing the Nazi government and the scales of justice, with a swastika at one end of the balance arm, which is actually a skeleton key unlocking the truth. A powerful symbol of the Nuremberg Trials. This is the first such shoulder patch Goldberg Collectibles has offered for auction. Patch is 3½ x 3" and has been presented sandwiched and well protected between two pieces of lucite screwed together at corners. The result makes for an exemplary display, protecting this historic WWII artifact for future generations to never forget. In superior condition and rare. Estimate Value $1,000 - UP

WWII : Original, US, Leather "Blood Chit" from the China-Burma-India Theater. Vintage original WWII Blood Chit (1943-44?) which were created to assist allies in aiding downed pilots. Originally these were sewn outside of jackets, but proved a dangerous target so were subsequently sewn inside pilot jackets. The War Department did create Blood Chits which were numbered but others were made by local craftsman of leather, silk and paper and were not numbered. This particular leather Blood Chit is 10 x 7¼" with the Republic of China WWII era flag with traditional Chinese script conveying an easy to read message, something akin to "Foreign American, military and civilian united as one, help and protect, Air Force Committee." In excellent condition but certainly exhibits some wear. Chinese characters very legible with a square "shadow" of a bluish ink stamp worn from use or moisture and very light soiling. Displays beautifully. Estimate Value $750 - UP

Vintage Original 48 Star US "Escape Flag" with Vintage Original Direct Mail Flyer to Chinese on How To Help Downed US Pilots. 1.) A silk screened (48 Star) US flag on what appears to be rayon stitched to cotton fabric backing that was worn by pilots on the inside of their jackets. Many pilots opted for stitching to only three sides to creat a pocket for flight maps. This is very similar in purpose to the leather "Blood Chit" with Chinese characters used during the war to assure the citizens that Americans were their allies and to protect them and get them medical assistance if necessary. This flag has no such written Chinese characters but it follows on the heels of a direct mail campaign by the US in January of 1946, sent to every household (note 1¢ US Stamp) in China, a massive campaign. 2.) Original example of this mailing still with 1¢ US stamp. The front of mailing show two Chinese men carrying a pilot, his downed plane seen in the distance, the US flag in color on the inside of jacket. The obverse text of the mailer has a Chinese idiom approximating "You sow melons, you get melons" and the reverse a long text about American fighting against the Japanese with instructions on what to do ranging from burning the downed airplane, offer a traditonal coat to disguise the pilot (s), move them only at night and on familiar roads to get them to safety, which in so doing could save many American lives. This piece is dated Jan. 10, 1946 possibly when Col. Whiting Willauer, who had served as director of Far East and Special Territories Branch in the Foreign Economic Administer, and General Claire Chennault, leader of the Flying Tigers, were asked by the UN Relief and Rehabilitation Administration (UNRRA) to create a civilian airline which would fly the supplies to the interior and operate a commercial cargo service on the return flight; the airline began service in late Janurary, 1946. Both pieces in excellent conditon with only the back of the flag exhibiting some dark toning from age. Estimate Value $750 - UP

World War II and Vietnam War Propaganda Leaflets -- Group of 13. Four German propaganda leaflets, three warning the English about the destruction wrought by the V-1 and V-2 flying bombs; the V2 is especially frightening: "Nothing can be seen - Nothing can be heard - But It's There: V2"; the fourth warns that American soldiers will seduce British soldiers' wives while they are away fighting. From the Vietnam War, a group of smaller leaflets includes: a bright yellow Safe-Conduct Pass in Vietnamese with English: "To Be Honored By All Vietnamese Government Agencies and Allied Forces"; one showing a Vietnamese person giving directions to an American soldier, with one sentence in English: "This Man Has Information On VC Rice Collectors. Take Him To Your S-2"; the remaining seven are in Vietnamese, with no English on them. All toned, otherwise fine. Airborne leaflet propaganda was a form of psychological warfare and the quickest way to disseminate information. Military forces used aircraft to drop leaflets in order to alter the behavior of combatants and non-combatants in enemy-controlled territory, sometimes in conjunction with air strikes. B-17 Bomber Painted by Fritz Willis, Gift of Studio Head Jack Warner to Lt. General Henry H. Arnold (1942). Spectacular art, gouache and ink on paper of the Boeing B-17D Bomber by acclaimed illustrator, Fritz Willis (1907-1979). After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, legendary director Howard Hawks, approached Lt. General Henry "Hap" Arnold, Commanding General of the Army Air Forces to assist with a film based on the experiences of a flight of B-17s, specifically the crew of the Mary-Ann that left Hamilton Field, California, on the night of December 6, 1941, and literally flew into the war the next morning at Pearl Harbor. That movie was the World War II film classic, "AIR FORCE" starring John Garfield, directed by Hawks and produced by Jack Warner.
The artist Fritz Willis eventually left Warner Brothers and became one of the landmark commercial artists of the 20th Century, and a legend for his extraordinarily sensual pin-up art, highly prized and collected world-wide. Therefore, the uniqueness of this piece cannot be overstated. Art is 26 x 20" and framed to 36 x 30". There is a torn and taped notation on verso that mentions the provenance saying Arnold gave Warner the painting which makes little sense given the artist was working at Warner Brothers. We feel it much more likely the other way around. Estimate Value $1,250 - UP
