Lot 2146
1897 $5 Liberty. NGC graded MS-65. A lovely gem example of this date, NGC has graded 43 as such, with just 4 graded higher (all MS-66). Flashy mint color and clean surfaces, even for this lofty grade. A few faint hairlines from perfection, as always seen.
Estimated Value $2,500 - 3,000.

Lot 2147
1900 $5 Liberty. PCGS graded Proof 62 Cameo. This is a curious one, the quality is top flight on the production of the coin, but there are some minor ticks in the left obverse field which account for the grade, as well as light hairlines. Only 200 were struck, and most of those were lost or spent during the following century. This one isn't the best known, but it sure is pretty for the grade assigned.
Estimated Value $3,000 - 4,000.

1911-D $5 Indian. NGC graded AU-58. A scarce date and this one just missed a mint state grade because of minor wear on the high points and minor circulation marks in the fields. Only 72,500 struck, and most are not this nice!

Lot 2172
1911-S $5 Indian. NGC graded MS-63. Rich golden toning on both sides and this date is rare in full mint state grades. Most apparently entered circulation, and few survived in mint state. The "S" is nicely formed, and not the blob often encountered. Scattered ticks, none deep or distracting.
Estimated Value $1,500 - 2,000.

Lot 2176
1916-S $5 Indian. PCGS graded MS-64. Mintages cooled to 240,000 for 1916 as the United States geared up for World War I. Most of those struck circulated for years before being saved. Of all places, a few bags turned up in El Salvador, and most of these were baggy mint state pieces. Not so here, the surfaces are clean and show few signs of handling. Deep coppery toning melds with the devices, and the Chief's cheek is full and undiminished. Minor handling lines in the fields, but far and away better than most encountered. PCGS has graded 51 this high, with a scant 9 higher of the date.
Estimated Value $4,500 - 5,500.
