Lot 1879
1884-S Morgan Dollar. SEGS graded MS-62. "Light Toning" as noted on the SEGS insert. The toning is speckled and generally gold in color over the frosty, lustrous fields. There are some bagmarks in the fields and on Liberty's face, as always for this date, and we note that this one may be a bit optimistically graded by SEGS, and you shouldn't expect a cross-over from another grading service. For some reason, 1884-S dollars are seldom found without a bit of friction on the high points, and virtually all seen are similar to this coin or show more circulation marks and wear. An important coin that is really hard to find in mint state.
Estimated Value $3,000 - 3,500.

Lot 1880
1884-S Morgan Dollar. PCGS graded AU-58 Premium Quality. Here is one that "just missed" a mint state grade, as it shows very few signs of friction, which can't really be called "wear". Clean surfaces and one small bit of toning on the lower reverse edge. Clean surfaces, and this coin would easily fit into an uncirculated set.
Estimated Value $1,500 - 2,000.

Lot 1883
1884-S Morgan Dollar. ICG graded AU-58. Sometimes we wonder if 1884-S dollars were struck in AU-58. They all seem to have light wear, and this one is no exception. Frosty and bright, nicely struck for the date, with the usual and expected handling marks.
Estimated Value $350 - 400.

Lot 1885
1885-CC Morgan Dollar. PCGS graded Proof 66 Deep Mirror Prooflike. Flannagan. Here is one of the finest graded of the date, PCGS has seen 27 this high with just a single coin graded higher! The surfaces are stark white with mile high winter day frost on Liberty, and the fields mile ocean deep in their contrast. Hard to believe this coin could have been made as a business strike 116 years ago when the mints today can scarcely put out a bag without a dozen errors. The relentless march of progress and efficiency as observed through numismatics.
Estimated Value $3,500 - 4,500.
From the Flannagan collection.

1886-O Morgan Dollar. PCGS graded MS-62 Deep Mirror Prooflike. As noted in the PCGS Population Report, this is one of the rarest dates to locate in Deep Mirror Prooflike. Only 11 have been graded in all mint state grades by PCGS, and this is one of 3 in its grade category. The surfaces are very nice for the grade, and we wonder if PCGS wasn't a bit stingy in assigning this one only a 62. Grading is an art, and everyone's opinion differs to some degree. Minor contact marks in the delicate mirror fields, as expected, after all this was a business strike. Bright and untoned.

Lot 1907
1888 Morgan Dollar. NGC graded MS-64. Bright white on the obverse, with vibrant gold toning at the periphery, but the story here is one the reverse, for here we have a radiant palette of colors ranging across the span of the rainbow and back again, generally horizontal in their organization, and all dance with the mint luster beneath. If you love toned coins, especially these hot-blooded colors, then wave your hand high when this one crosses the block and put aside some of the most vivid colors you'll probably ever see on a Morgan.

Lot 1912
1889-CC Morgan Dollar. Sharpness of MS-60 but polished and buffed on Liberty's cheek. This coin was polished on the cheek in order to remove bagmarks, and perhaps in the surrounding fields too. One for the budget minded collector who wants to put this in an album, as it won't be graded by the major grading services in its current state. Satiny white in color, and a coin that should be inspected by prospective buyers. This is one of the key dates to the Morgan silver dollar series, and this one would be acceptable to some collectors.
