Lot 1296
1859 7-piece proof set graded by NGC. Coins are graded: 1¢, PF-65; 3¢ silver, PF-64; H10¢, PF-65; 10¢, PF-66; 25¢, PF-65; 50¢, PF-67 Star; $1, PF-66. Only 800 sets issued. The 50¢ is tied for the finest examples graded at both services. The cent is bright and fresh, with only a trace of pale toning flecks over the copper nickel surfaces, bold and frosty; the 3¢ silver is lovely, with light antique gold and teal on the obverse, a bit more color on the reverse; the H10¢ is golden russet on the obverse, while the reverse is more of a deeper blue and yellow shade; the 10¢ is exceptionally clean with a golden rose hue that spans both sides; the 25¢ displays lilac and teal on the obvere, while the reverse shows elegant deep blue and russet around the rims, bright pale gold to the center over frosted devices, bold mirror fields; the 50¢ is stunning with dusty light iridescent toning on the obverse and reverse, with exceptionally clean surfaces and visual appeal; and the $1 shows classic antique blue and gold around the rims, lighter centers with a touch of peach and sunset intermixed. This set is absolutely incredible and will be the center piece of any advanced collection. Estimate Value $40,000 - UP

Lot 1298
1895 Morgan Dollar. PCGS graded Proof 67. CAC. PQ. The key date to the Morgan Dollars. Wonderful rainbow toning on both sides that comes from many years of careful storage and appears on a coin that has been placed in just the right environment. The surfaces are virtually perfect, as expected for the superb gem grade. Liberty's broad cheek is essentially flawless, as are the delicate surrounding fields. For the reverse the radiant hues of toning continue, with deeper portions around the rims and brighter at the center. The eagle's breast is free from handling as are the other design elements. The 1895 Morgan dollar has long been regarded as the "King of the Morgans", this remarkable title has been earned through countless collectors seeking an examples, with only a modest number succeeding in finding even one that they could place in their collections. Although mint records record 12,000 pieces minted, these have been determined to have been dated 1894, thus no circulation strikes exist of this date and mint. Thus the only Philadelphia Mint Morgan dollars were struck as proofs, a mere 880 pieces that year. That doesn't leave many coins to go around to the countless collections being formed. This particular example is not at all average, for it is one of the finest seen, climbing high above the many at the superb grade level, and furthermore blessed by the folks at PCGS and CAC for its regal beuty and memorable quality. Needless to say you may have to wait for many years to find a specimen that even approaches the beauty, quality and desirablility of this magnificent gem. Cert #36887197. Only 880 struck. Pop 5; 18 finer at PCGS. (PCGS # 7330) Estimate Value $100,000 - UP

1895 Barber Quarter Dollar. PCGS graded Proof 68 Cameo. CAC. PQ. A fully white gem proof. The obverse and reverse show considerable mint frost on the devices, which seem to float atop a sea of glassy reflectiviity. Free of handling issues and exceptionally appealing. All 1895 Barber quarters examined in Proof show an unusual lintmark on Liberty's nose, which is in the shape of a shepherds staff, this lintmark was actually on the master hub used to create this proof die, hence the lintmark is raised on the coins produced rather than sunk into the silver surface as usually seen. #36887223. Only 880 struck. Pop 8; 2 finer, 1 in 68 DCAM, 1 in 69 CAM. (PCGS # 85681) Estimate Value $9,000 - 10,000
