Comes with related Award Book issued on July 9, 1938 by ZIK of Armenian Soviet Republic to Gevorkyan Tirayr Sargis – ???????? ?????? ?????????? (1895-1986). Very rare 2nd Type. Comes with photocopies of other award booklets. The Hero of Labor of Armenia was awarded 70 times, the first 50 wereunnumbered (type-1), and the last 20 (type-2) had stamped numbers 51 to 70.Condition: Moderate handling, problem free, Extremely fine. Awarded with Order of the Red Banner of RSFSR 2nd Award to Tsinit August Andreevich, military commander of the 32nd Brigade, 11th "Petrograd" Rifle Division, on January 8, 1924, for bravery and courage in the struggle against the enemies of the Socialist Fatherland on March 17 and 18, 1921, during the infamous siege of Kronshtadt. Documented Order of the Red Banner of USSR Regimental Unit Award. Type 2. Award # 62902. Silver. Type 2, screwback with "???????? ????" mintmark on reverse. Original silver nut. Comes with original temporary certificate and original receipt of temporary certificate confirming this order to be awarded to the 754th "Kingisepp" Howitzer Regiment, by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the USSR. Date of decree is March 22, 1944. Award number is specified on both documents. Miniscule chips on red enamel, negligible scratches on white enamel, all seem to be signs of wear on a regimental banner. Nice dark patina 754th Regiment first distinguished itself at fierce battles for the defense of Leningrad in 1942, than throughout the WWII, as part of Leningrads’ front, and finally at the liberation of the city of Kingisepp (February 1, 1944). Bestowed the honorary designation of "Kingisepp" Regiment. Last WWII commander was Colonel Bakanov N.A. Extremely rare documented UNIT AWARD and elusive in private hands.Condition: Miniscule chips on red enamel, negligible scratches on white enamel, all seem to be signs of wear on a regimental banner. Researched Group of Hero of the Soviet Union Major-General Sokolov Nikolay Vasilievich. Sokolov Nikolay Vasilievich (1899 – 1980), was a career Red Army officer. Started service in 1919, actively participated in Civil War. Graduated from military engineer’s school in 1922, and commander improvement courses in 1932. During WWII, distinguished himself in commanding critically important engineering works for Leningrad’s "Road of Life", strategic crossings of Neva, Visla, Dnestr and Dnepr Rivers. During crossing of Visla River in August 3-5 1944, his regiment built a bridge and managed to transfer tanks and ammunitions across to the enemy’s side, followed by two days of successfully repelling all the counter attacks. By decree of Sept. 23, 1944, "For outstanding leadership and skillful command of his pontoon-engineering regiment during crossing of Visla River and personal bravery" he was bestowed with the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, with GOLD HSU Star #1992 and Order of Lenin #10986. Researched Group of Hero of the Soviet Union Lieutenant-General Bilaonov Pavel Semyonovich. Bilaonov Pavel Semyonovich (1919 – 1996), was a career Red Army officer. Started service in 1937, but by 1939managed to graduate military infantry school and received his first assignment as a machine-gun platoon commander. During WWII, distinguished himself in fighting at Stalingrad and 2nd Ukrainian fronts. Duringcrossing of Dnestr River in 1944, his regiment was among the first to reach the enemy’s side, and successfully repel all the counter-offensive attempts, destroying 3 tanks, 60 vehicles and taking 150 POW’s in the process. By decree of Sept. 13, 1944, "For outstanding leadership and skillful command of his regiment during crossing of Dnestr" he was bestowed with the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, with GOLD HSU Star #2279 and Order of Lenin #20928. After the war, graduated from famous Military Academy of General Staff. From 1968-1974 was serving in command of 38th Army. Retired in 1980. Died on May 28, 1996.
