Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig Signed Babe Ruth Home Run Special Ball with Certification by JSA. George Herman "Babe" Ruth (1895-1948) and Lou Gherig (1903-1941) signed Babe Ruth Home Run Special ball manufactured by Spalding with orange and blue stitching. Babe Ruth has signed on the sweet spot and signature is fine, bold and legible, executed in steel-tip fountain pen. Just left of Ruth's signature one can find Lou Gehrig's signature. Examined closely his signature is apparent but know it is faint. Both signatures have a light layer of fixative or shellac with no toning. A fantastic piece signed by two legends of baseball; again, Babe Ruth's signature very attractive. Ball was recently certified by James Spence Authentication (certification number: Z90242) and comes with LOA. Please be sure to see our Babe Ruth boldly signed card also in this auction. Estimate Value $3,000 - UP

Large, Very Fine, Babe Ruth Signature on Card Stock, Certification by JSA. George Herman "Babe Ruth" (1895-1948) legendary baseball player and one of the most recognized names to ever play the sport. In a career spanning 22 years, Ruth is considered to be the greatest player to have played the game. Offered is a wonderful signature on card stock. Paper exhibits minor smudges and toning on signature side, not uncommon given the years but overall was carefully archived over the decades and a fine candidate for an elaborate presentation or framed as is. Abner Doubleday, Civil War General, & For Decades Credited as Inventor of Baseball in Cooperstown, NY. (1819-1893) The Doubleday Myth refers to the belief that the sport of baseball was invented in 1839 by future American Civil War general Abner Doubleday in Cooperstown, New York, a claim, by the way, that he never made in his life. Nevertheless, his name became permanently associated with the game and is why the city was chosen as the site of the National Baseball Hall of Fame. In spite of critics questioning the assertion after his death, he was a significant figure in history having been at Fort Sumpter as second in command when the first shots of the Civil War were fired, as well as commanding an important battle at Gettysburg. Offered is an autographed letter signed and dated by Doubleday in 1878 while living in NYC. Manuscript is in excellent condition written on 8 x 5" ruled Farmington paper. A very scarce find for Baseball and Civil War collectors alike. Estimate Value $500 - UP
