60 Oversized, Double Weight Re-Strike Photos of Hollywood Stars from Hollywood's Golden Age Printed ca. 1960s -1970s. For years, collectors have wanted photos of their favorite stars from the silent era to present. But original were very difficult to find and expensive to purchase. As printing technology improved, re-strikes could be produced and sold at bookstores across the US. But mostly these shops were in Los Angeles as this collection came from, the immensely popular Cherokee Book Shop on Hollywood Boulevard. Offered is a collection of commerically printed photographs of virtually every major star during Hollywood's Golden Age: Dietrich, Crawford, Turner, Hayworth, Blondell, Fontaine, Garland, Leigh, Shearer, Gable, Flynn, Ford, MacMurray and so many more including about a dozen on set photos. June Lang (Vlasek) Seven (7) Great Portraits by Otto Dyar. June Lang (Vlasek) was a very striking blond who was quickly picked up and put on contract at 20th Century Fox in the 1930s after catching the eye of Darry F. Zanuck as many others before and after. Never a lead but found herself as a frequent cast member in light comedies. In 1940 she married mobster Johnny Roselli, from Chicago who had set his sites on Vegas and Hollywood. It cost her the contract with Fox and her career which never recovered even after divorcing. Seven stunning portraits are offered in this lot by the great Otto Dyar, and all are oversized double weight photos. Without debate, she was extremely photogenic as these portraits prove. As for Roselli, his body was found floating in 1971 in Dumfounding Bay in Florida. Estimate Value $400 - UP

The camera loved her, most especially her beautiful eyes. She won an Oscar for THE FARMER'S DAUGHTER and other acclaimed productions. Of late, her story of having a daughter by Clark Gable while on location for the 1935 film CALL OF THE WILD, is well known now, but discretely glossed over as an adoption due to the time. Now it appears it may have been due to assault. That said, this collection is a wonderful look at Young spanning twenty years with a portrait by Otto Dyar very early in her career, ca. 1930 and absolutely breathtaking.
