1856. NGC graded Proof 66. Golden bluish peripheral toning emerging on both sides, gracing the bright reflective fields and frosty white centers. A beautiful gem proof. It is curious to note that the die chosen to coin these proofs shows some minor doubling, which can be seen on the shield and on Liberty's dress folds. The reverse proof diagnostics include a heavy die file line to the top of R of AMERICA. Only 50 struck, with 30 to 40 examples estimated to have survived according to PCGS Pop Report. Pop 3; 6 finer, 5 in 66 Cameo, 1 in 68 Cameo. Estimate Value $8,000 - 9,000

1857. PCGS graded Proof 67. Lovely dark blue toning and quite elegant in appearance. The surfaces are pristine show no signs of handling. Handsome antique hues span the entire surface, with much original mint reflectivity shining through. These early Proof dimes, dated prior to 1859, are much scarcer than later issues, and finding a superb gem like this is quite an accomplishment. Few were saved so well and preserved. Here is one of the finest known today, and a coin that will stand tall even in the most advanced collection. Exceptional eye apppeal and quality! Only 70 struck, with 30 to 50 examples estimated to have survived according to PCGS Pop Report. Pop 2; tied with 2 other Proof 67 coins and a 67 Cameo at NGC as the highest graded examples for both services. (PCGS # 4746) Estimate Value $6,000 - 6,500

1859-S. NGC graded AU-55. A nice white example. Examination confirms this piece is very close to mint state with just a touch of wear on the high points. The surfaces are clean and attractive, which adds to the already high appeal of this amazing 1859-S dime. Furthermore, the strike is sharp, notably on Liberty's head (an area often found far weaker in strike). This is one of the tougher issues to find in high frade from the entire Liberty Seated dime series. Only 60,000 struck. Pop 3; 2 finer in 62. Estimate Value $5,500 - 6,000

A scarce issue with a mintage of only 140,000 pieces, not many were saved, partcularly in mint state. Here is a prized Gem example which will certainly amaze any specialist. The strike is generally sharp on all but small area of the upper left wreath, but crisp and bold across the entire obverse. An extraordinary coin! Pop 3; 2 finer, 1 in 66, 1 in 67. Estimate Value $7,000 - 7,500
