Shuttle Era Six Space Foods and One Bottle Vitamins, One Noted To Have Flown on MIR. We are very pleased to offer this collection of 7 total Shuttle era prepared foods and supplements likely flown. Offered are 4 freeze-dried, powdered or concentrated foods in 4 x 4 x 1½" square plastic containers, all still sealed. Included are Chocolate Instant Breakfast, Orange-Grapefruit Drink, Strawberries & Sweet and Sour Chicken. Also included is a can of Chocolate Pudding with pull-tab lid and fortified Peanut Butter in a foil bag (knead package before opening). Finally a sealed bottle of Theragran Vitamins (exp. April, 1998) with a notation written in pen on bottom of bottle "Flown on MIR, Dave Wolf, NASA-6 who spent 128 days on MIR." All have small blue velcro stickers affixed to them as well as different colored small round stickers. Fantastic collection for any level of collector of vintage space materials.

Fully Intact Instrument Pointing System (IPS) and Payload Electronics Assembly (PEA) Likely Flown. From the collection of aerospace memorabilia expert, Ken Havekotte, a fully intact Instrument Pointing System (IPS) and Payload Electronics Assembly (PEA). flown status presumed. Instrument was located in the Orbiter's payload bay area and proved a critical piece of the 3-axis gimbal system that provided precision pointing of a wide range of payloads. Research on Spacelab missions required that instruments be pointed with very high accuracy at stars, the sun, Earth or other targets of observation. Collection of 4, Used Space Shuttle Hardware, Two Flown. Assortment of Space Shuttle hardware - flown status presumed with all pieces. 1) piece of Shuttle shock absorber material for a flown solid rocket booster "hold down post" of Launch Pad 39 6 x 6 x 3" with considerable expected wear. 2) Main engine related coolant flow flexible hoseline (15" in length) with two metal tags dated October 1980 and the other dated 1981 with PSI capacity with a third tag noting "Cleaned by NASA KSC component Refurbishment Laboratory " used for testing/simulation as one coupling has engraved "Not For Flight Use". 3) Flown right wing 'horse collar assembly" (28" in length) removed from STS-84, Shuttle Atlantis which flew May 1997, 144 orbits and 9 days in Space with NASA tag and nonconformance paperwork. 4) Likely flown Spacelab wiring harness and adapters which convey the extremes taken in insulation and safety. Two Outstanding Flown Shuttle Items from the 1990s; Large Beta Blanket with Zip Fasteners and Insulator Bracket. Two flown Shuttle items from the 1990s. Most impressive is a large 26 x 28" flown Shuttle Orbiter Vehicle Beta ML1 Blanket (V519-365307-001) with zip (snap) fasteners and has NASA red vinyl tag affixed. Comes with handwritten COA from space ephemera expert, Ken Havekotte. The other flown item can be indentified to flight STS-94, Shuttle Columbia in 1997. The 9 x 3" bracket is from the elevon area of the wing and includes the NASA green tag for scrapping (V070-197-151-001) and also comes with description and signed authentication by Havekott. Best is a full spiral of the Flight Director's handwritten notes of details with a number of critical memos stapled inside dating as early as February 1970 to April, 1970, addressing issues of The Shuttle's capabilities, design criteria and payloads. A virtual diary of the early considerations. Several publications and stapled criteria of flight test operations and simulations of The Shuttle form the late 1970s. Finally a number of manuals from the first 5 Shuttle Flights with four STS-1 related manuals, including flight maps, charts and data files, mission planning and analysis and flight data file cue cards (coffee/water damage impacting only cover and first 4 pages but still very readable). Two Flown Items on STS-1 and STS-29 Presentated in Lucite. Two commemorative paperweights given to select employees of NASA. The best is from the first flight of the Shuttle Orbiter "Columbia" (STS-1) a segment of a thermal tile which protected the Shuttle on reentry. 2¾ x 3¾" block with a ½ x ½" tile sample with flight director's name printed on COA within lucite. The other is exactly the same size and commemorates the TDRSS Space Network operational with a flown pin that was carried to space aboard The Discovery on STS-29 in March of 1989. Flown presentation US flag to Randy Stone technical expert for STS-1 whose claim to fame on this particular mission was giving the " no go for launch". "Yes sir. We do not understand what is happening here. (primary computer system) If it works through ascent, and I can't guarantee it's going to work when we bring these computers back alive to do entry. I am no go for launch………" 8 x 11" certificate with color images, cream colored paper stock, facsimile signatures with flag affixed with a double stick tape panel that has caused light toning of the flag on every one of these presentations. STS-1 Crew Activity Plans and Detailed Displays and Controls Many With Notations. 3 fine workbooks and activity plans for STS-1, property of one of the NASA Crew Training and Procedures Division Members. The first is a publication of illustrations entitled Orbiter 102 Displays and Controls of various decks and stations all in great detail. The other two are crew activity plans used for simulation to the most minute detail, including additional notations made in wax pencil ranging from certain testing to "Shave/Brush Teeth." Collection of 2 Flight Operations Manuals and Large Personal Work Notebook form STS-1 and 1 from STS-2. STS-1, Shuttle Colombia launched April 12, 1981 ushering a new chapter in space missions which by chance coincided with the 20th anniversary of the first manned space flight. Mission was a test flight to accomplish a safe ascent into orbit and to return to Earth for a safe landing with only a minor payload of instrumentation to check all elements of the flight. From the operations director a Flight Data File Orbiter Systems Data Book dated 4/24/80 with charts but at least 20 fold-out pages illustrating displays and controls of the interior instrumentation and fantastic exterior illustrations with every feature of the shuttle indicated. STS-1 Flight Data File Ascent Checklist dated 3/3/81, a manual of several hundred pages with several pages containing handwritten notations and computations all addressing every imaginable detail with respect to ascent. Most interesting, a heavily referenced notebook about 3" thick with each page in a sleeve with charts, notes, memos many with handwritten figures, side notations, and illustrations most dated from 1980-1982 regarding STS -1. STS-4 Shuttle Columbia, 5 NASA Work Manuals Dated April, May, June 1982. 3 NASA manuals for STS-4 (Columbia) property of the Flight Director notable as it carried a secret payload to detect missile launches that evidently failed. 1.) Ringed reference manual issued the Flight Operations Directorate Division, regarding Flight Data File Payload Systems Data and Malfunctions Procedures are actually two manuals one issued in April of 1982 and the revisions dated May 1982. These are crammed with pull out and detailed diagrams of the Shuttle focusing on a number of issues and details of specific areas. STS-27, Shuttle Atlantis, Mammoth Hinged Binder of the Flight Director, Comprehensive Mission Operations. Personal property of the Flight Director, a mammoth 3" inch hinged binder used for STS-27, Shuttle Atlantis deploying a single all-weather surveillance satellite for the US National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Flight also significant in that Atlantis' Thermal Protection System tiles sustained extensive damage during the flight from insulation which came off during lift-off. Fortunately disaster avoided; however, the crew was reportedly furious about the low level of concern. Once safely landed, over 700 tiles were damaged with one missing. Workbook has at least 25 tabbed chapters, a great number of schematics, panel designs, a number hand colored, flight rules, timelines and much more. Appears to be heavily referenced, but since printed on heavy stock or many pages sleeved, workbook remains in excellent condition and an absolutely fantastic study. Estimate Value $250 - UP

From STS 51-A two printed manuals addressing Crew Activity Plans and Final PAM Deploy Checklist, a heavily tabbed comprehensive reference manual. Also included is a spiral notebook, about 14 pages, handwritten by the Flight Controller involving a myriad of issues, as well as many loose memos and other inserted notes. Material from STS 51-D has a few stapled Daily Execute Packages and Flight Crew Reports. But significantly two notebooks full of memos and a very large number of handwritten pages in both. STS 51-L, Disastrous Last Flight of The Challenger, 7 Flight Director's Manuals & Files. The 25th Shuttle flight, STS 51-L, ended in catastrophic failure and destruction 73 seconds into flight killing the entire crew of seven. STS-51-L was scheduled to deploy the second in a series of Tracking and Data Relay Satellites, carry out the first flight of the Shuttle-Pointed Tool for Astronomy (SPARTAN-203) / Halley's Comet Experiment Deployable in order to observe Halley's Comet, and carry out several lessons from space as part of the Teacher in Space Project.
Offered is the flight director's flight profile and flight data file, a heavily tabbed work manual which includes procedures, timelines and the like with occasional highlighted notations. The second manual is the Flight Data File Crew Activity Plan which gives comprehensive overviews, timelines and contingencies. Also included are two small file folders, one marked Press Brief and it addresses McAuliffe, Teacher in Space, the deployment of TDRS satellites. Another file is entitled Mid-Deck Experiments including a handwritten CHAMP (Comet Halley Active Monitoring Program) likely a quickly executed press statement and explanation, file updates and the like Two Orbital Operations Manuals one dated October, 1986, the other, Jan. 1986. STS-71 was the third mission of the US/Russian Shuttle-Mir Program and the first Space Shuttle docking to Russian space station Mir. From the collection of the Flight Director, a flown patch mounted on a NASA presentation certificate, unframed, to the Director. Also included is a Flown Flag (unmounted in same envelope with only a handwritten notation that it was flown on envelope) and brief notes. The file of notes covers a myriad of issues with regard to MIR (from 1993 to1995) including budgets for Russian Astronaut tour, training and what appears to be overlays for a presentation. Leadership Appreciation Award to the Chairman of the STS -107 (Columbia) Accident Investigation Team March, 2004. Shadow box presentation award to the Chairman of the STS-107 Shuttle Columbia NASA Accident Investigation Team awarded just over a year after the catastrophe. The investigation determined eighty-two seconds into STS 107 lift-off, a sizable piece of debris struck the leading edge of the orbiter's left wing. During re-entry the damaged wing slowly over heated and came apart, eventually leading to loss of control and disintegration of Shuttle Columbia. Shadow box measures 12 x 16 x 3" and includes a beautifully executed plaque "In Appreciation For Your Leadership and Dedication as Chairman of the STS-107 NASA Accident Investigation Team March, 2004" with enamel emblems of the crew patch and NASA logo. Great collection of four flown mission patches, three (3) flown US flags and one flown Apollo 11 25th Anniversary, all mounted on beautiful presentations to a flight director/technical engineer that represent 5 different Shuttle flights. Flights included are STS-43 (Atlantis) Flown Shuttle patch and US flag, STS-54 (Endeavour) with this presentation boasting the crew patch, the TDRS-6 patch which was flown and a US flag also flown. Next STS-61 (Endeavour) flown crew patch, which was the first servicing mission of the Hubble Space Telescope. STS-65 (Columbia) which carried into space Apollo 11, 25th Anniversary flags that were then mounted on presentation certificates and awarded to NASA directors. At any rate, very concise sets of memos outlining issues and concerns of this particular Flight Director and make for fantastic reading. Complimenting the collected "lessons learned" are 3 Joint Operations Interface Procedure manuals, and system notes addressing all Shuttle Flights all dated around 1984-1985. Six Books of Handwritten Recorded Notes, Observations, Issues, Tests by the Deputy Director 2001- 2003. An impressive collection of handwritten memos, observations, concerns, solutions, notes from meetings, literally diaries by the Deputy Director during many Shuttle Flights. Four of the six books are completely full and the other two by half. Books also contain printed memos, letters, Post-It notes, and such. We have kept them as received to the best of our ability. This is an unbelievable opportunity to experience the day-to-day work of a highly recognized and awarded, 37 year veteran of NASA. NASA Medium Stowage Container, Class 1 Flight Hardware, ca. October, 2004. Stowage container, part #10105-10002-01, class 1 hardware likely flown on one or more of the last five Shuttle flights. Containers like this were used to hold a medical kit and attached to storage locker for easy access. Soft but reinforced navy colored fabric designed with no partition or stiffener and could be flattened after use: 7 x 5 x 5" and in very fine condition. Estimate Value $250 - UP
