Icons of Hollywood Pop-Culture: Tributes to "The Rat Pack" and "I Love Lucy". "I Love Lucy" dominated the television ratings between 1951 and 1957, starring Lucille Ball and her husband, Desi Arnaz. In 1952, in an episode called "Job Switching" Lucy and Ethel decided they would go to work instead of their husbands and landed at a chocolate factory. Lucy dipping chocolates to great hilarity was voted #2 of TV Guide's 100 Most Memorable Moments. Here a limited edition tribute with a re-strike image from the episode and the significance of the episode is beautifully matted and framed to 19 x 14". In the 1960s, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop were collectively known as The Rat Pack, thanks to a nicely lobbed ribbing by Lauren Bacall calling them that name. The reputation of these 5 Vegas Entertainers really came into the fore with the release of the film OCEANS 11 in 1960. Offered is a fine limited edition tribute to these entertainers in this re-strike photo taken in front of The Sands marquee of all five, one of the most famous taken of the group. Photo is matted in a colorful pattern of dice and cards. 22 x 14". Estimate Value $100 - UP

Seven Rare Signatures From The Golden Era of Hollywood: John Garfield, Leslie Howard, Al Jolson, George Arliss and Lauren Bacall. Superb collection of screen stars who each made significant contributions to Hollywood's Golden Age of Cinema. John Garfield (Postman Always Rings Twice, Body and Soul and Humoresque) and Leslie Howard (Gone With The Wind's Ashley Wilkes, Petrified Forest, and First of the Few) died far too young in their careers, Garfield from a coronary and Howard shot down in the plane he was in over Bay of Biscay by Luftwaffe Junkers. Their signatures are obviously scarce and highly prized. Garfield has boldly inscribed and signed an 8 x 10" portrait (minor evidence of handling) and Howard a 5 x 7" sepia portrait (black fountain pen ink signed across jacket and dark background but still quite legible). Also, a 5 x 7" Al Jolson, a legend after the first commercial talkie THE JAZZ SINGER, a signed 8 x 10" of the superb Lauren Bacall and finally a rare autograph on page (3 x 4") of George Arliss, a huge star in the 20s and 30s and the first British Actor to win an Oscar (DISRAELI) Finally a signed and inscribed note by Howard Fast author of SPARTACUS and a signed 5 x 7" photo of Leopold Stowkowski, who was the orchestra conductor of FANTASIA (slight crease) and two unsigned photos, one of Edward G. Robinson. Estimate Value $300 - UP
