Charlie Chaplin "The Tramp" -- Lovely Signed Autograph Leaf ca. 1930s with Modern Times Photo. Charlie Chaplin's "Little Tramp" is quite likely one of the most globally recognized icons of American Cinema in history, likely greater than Frankenstein, King Kong and Marilyn Monroe. Absolutely one of the 20th Century's greatest film comedians, film directors and composers. Offered is a very fine signature, lifted from a 1930s era autograph book executed in black fountain pen ink, slightly oxidized and toned given the years. 2½ x 4" and professionally mounted on mat board with restrike photo from MODERN TIMES, co-starring Paulette Goddard, which measures 11½ x 8½" Excellent in every way. Louis B. Mayer: Signed Renewal Contract/Letter By Studio Titan Mayer To Legendary Production Head, Cedric Gibbons, Rare. Mayer, Louis B. (1885 - 1957) Movie theater and production studio owner who merged with Marcus Lowe to form Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, which proved to be one of the most prestigious studios for nearly 50 years. An exceptionally scarce 1922 typed letter signed ("Louis B. Mayer") one page, quarto, Culver City, California, August 26, 1924 on Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer letterhead to A. Cedric Gibbons which is accompanied by Gibbons' three page renewal contract. Gibbons was MGM's art and production designer chief. A legend in the business, he was nominated for 38 Oscars for his work and won 11 times. Gibbons' signature is on two of the documents. The renewal documents are stapled to copies of previous contracts with the studio. All three signatures bold and clean. Total of 8 pages. Estimate Value $300 - UP

Miller, Arthur -- Celebrated American Playwright, Author and Screenwriter, Three Signed Pieces (1915 - 2005) Arthur Miller, American playwright, essayist, author, screenwriter and one of the top five figures in twentieth-century American theater, Pulitzer Prize Winner, Kennedy Center Honoree, testified before HUAC and was the husband of screen legend Marilyn Monroe. Offered are three signed pieces by Mr. Miller. The first is a piece written for US News and World Report dated November 12, 1979 on his definition of what constitutes a great play, stating the " best test of a play is whether it says something to the great unwashed majority of people." He further explains that the greatest theaters were in Elizabethan and Greek times. He has signed his typed opinion for the magazine along the bottom. The second is a TLS to a fan who wrote to Miller regarding the frustration of having the first name of Arthur, typed on Miller's personal letterhead,dated 1983. Finally, a program from "Conservations With Playwrights" at the Theresa Kaufman Concert Hall in New York City. He has signed boldly at the top. All three pieces in excellent condition. The history of film owes an enormous debt to the men and women who recreated the action, excitement, danger and beauty of the Ameican Western. Offered is an excellent collection of 15 autographs from some of the greatest Western stars spanning three generations. Included in this fine collection: John Wayne, a large bold signature "Good Luck John Wayne" 4½ x 6½"; a note signed by Will Rogers (and Dorothy Stone); Tom Mix; Academy Award Winner Ben Johnson; Gene Autry; William S. Hart (one of the first Western stars); a large signature of Randolph Scott; Monte Hale; Wallace Knott (Knotts Berry Farm). Also included are Joel McCrea, Chief Hó Ton Ya, Dickie Jones, Crash Corrigan, Leo Carrillo (The Cisco Kid but also one of California's greatest conservationists/preservationists), and a signed contract to 20th Century Fox by the greatest Western stuntman in history (as well as the film Ben Hur) Yakima Canutt.
