Lot 1498
1890. NGC graded MS-68. Lovely rainbow toning on both sides with abundant rich colors gently glowing from both sides. The surfaces are as perfect as one could hope to find, after all you know it takes quite a special coin to earn the Mint State-68 grade! Here it is, with undimished fields and devices, virtually intact as the moment it was struck, save for the gradual appearance of gorgeous toning. A monumental offering and destined for the most advanced collection. Pop 1; the finest graded. Estimate Value $20,000 - UP

Lot 1499
1890. PCGS graded MS-67. CAC. Lovely rainbow toning on both sides. Reflective surfaces as commonly seen on these scarce coins. Low mintage of 12,000. That means the dies never had a chance to wear down and lose their polish. Thus it is not uncommon to find these low mintage half dollars with strong reflectivity in the fields. This also means that the fields show every tiny contact mark, hence it is difficult to find these in gem or finer grades. Certainly should be regraded to MS67+. Pop 5; 1 in 67+. (PCGS # 6372) Estimate Value $14,000 - 15,000
