Lot Photo Description Realized
Lot 1
1793 C-1 R3+ PCGS graded AU50. Beautiful glossy medium brown and light chocolate with slightly darker steel brown toning on the highest points of the devices. The surfaces are perfectly smooth and this piece offers superior eye appeal. The only marks are a couple small rim nicks before the face and another barely visible one over the Y in LIBERTY. Sharply struck and nicely centered on a flawless planchet. EDS, Manley state 1.0, before any die roughness formed in the field before the portrait. A great example of our first Federal Half Cent. Our grade is EF40+, close to EF45. The attribution and Green Tree Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 4 finer, 1 in 55, 1 in 62, 1 in 64, 1 in 65 for the variety. Lot 2
1793 C-2 R3 PCGS graded XF40. Attractive glossy medium brown and chocolate with darker steel brown toning on the highpoints. The surfaces are smooth except for two thin, shallow planchet lamination streaks on the cap and in the field below (as struck). The only other marks are a thin scratch on the R in LIBERTY, a dull nick or shallow dig under the F in HALF, and a planchet flake off the wreath ribbon right of the denominator. These marks are not at all distracting and this piece offers excellent eye appeal. MDS with the reverse rotated 45 degrees clockwise relative to the normal head-to-foot die orientation. Struck slightly off center to K-6.5 leaving some of the border beads tight to the edge of the planchet but still visible. The date and legends are complete and clear. A nice 1793 half cent. Our grade is VF30. Weight 110.2 grains. The attribution and Green Tree Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 4 finer, 1 in 58+, 1 in 62, 1 in 63, 1 in 65 for the variety. Estimate Value $10,000 - UP

Lot 3
1793 C-3 R3 PCGS graded AU55. Rather frosty medium olive brown and steel with lighter steel brown and tan toning in protected areas. Sharply struck showing just a hint of friction on the highest points of the devices. The luster is subdued by a thin layer of natural oxidation and some microscopic dirt in protected areas, especially on the reverse. It appears this piece has never been brushed or "improved" in any way. The only marks, and they are visible only under strong magnification, are some very light hairline scratches hidden in the toning on the obverse. MDS with the always-present fine die rust on the reverse. Both sides show all the border beads, although a few on the lower part of the reverse are tight to the edge of the planchet. Our grade is AU50 sharpness net EF45+. The attribution and Green Tree Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 6 finer for the variety. Estimate Value $25,000 - UP
