Collection of 10 Vintage German Porcelain & Briar Wood Pipes, One Ropp Grand Duc Pipe. A fine collection of German pipes and wine pipes often referred to as Tyrolian, Black Forest or alpine folk pipes. These pipes are highly prized by collectors with this collection brought from Germany from a gentleman who immigrated to America just before WWII. 5 of the porcelain bowls have beautifully painted Old World scenes. One of a returning soldier wearing a Napoleonic uniform with the caption in German (a rerturn of Spring), another a beautiful "In Memory Of" bowl with raised floral design, a fairy tale scene with prince and maiden, a playful scene of an 18th century couple in a cottage with a verse regarding the mockingbird singing, and finally a a bowl with a heroic image of Ferdinand Lassalle, the German-Jewish political activist of the 19th Century. The sixth porcelain pipe is plain white but with a silver wind-cap lid. Eight original wood stems come with this collection 6" to 30" in length. Also included are two German style pipes of briar with silver wind-cap lids. And finally a classic Ropp briar wood standard pipe, lightly smoked and measures 11½" in length. All estate fresh.
