Lot 1518		1849 Moffat & Co. (San Francisco) $5 Gold. PCGS graded AU-53. Mostly untoned with a handsome orange gold color throughout. A nice example that exhibits a good strike and clean surfaces. This is a popular and relatively affordable territorial gold coin, with Moffat & Co. insribed on the die in Liberty's hair, and the reverse with S.M.V. noting the standard market value of Five Dollars. The reverse looks prooflike while the obverse displays cleaning evidence when carefully examined. An historic and popular coin, which has a decent appearance in hand.
