Lot 1195
1878-CC. NGC graded AU-58. Untoned and some luster evident on both sides. This is the second rarest of the prized Carson City half eagles, with a few more examples known than the 1870-CC, but both are represented by fewer than 100 coins each today. Furthermore only a couple of pieces are finer than the present offering. To find a wholesome AU-58 of this date requires considerable patience and usually quite a bit of luck, but here is an opportunity for the astute numismatist to sock away this classic rarity. Only 9,054 struck. Pop 8; 3 finer, 2 in 58+, 1 in 63. (PCGS # 8346) Estimate Value $30,000 - 35,000

Lot 1206
1903. PCGS graded Proof 65+ Cameo. CAC. PQ. Fully untoned with blazing bright reflectivity save for a minor copper speck on the upper reverse on I of IN in the Motto. The strike is bold as expected, with full die definition on all the devices. The mirror fields are highly reflective and offer a fair amount of visual contrast, enough to earn the Cameo designation from PCGS. This is a late issue Proof to show this degree of contrast as many of this date are struck in the all mirrro format with limited contrast. A visual treat for the collector and one of the finer pieces seen. Only 154 struck. Pop 1; 5 finer, 1 in 66, 2 in 67, 2 in 67+. (PCGS # 88498) Estimate Value $30,000 - UP
