Lot 1130
1854-D. PCGS graded AU-55. A key date coin and the only Dahlonega $3 dollar issue. Mostly untoned with some mint luster evident in the protected areas. The strike is better than usually seen on this often poorly struck issue, with softness noted in the lower left obverse reeding, but generally sharp on the central devices and lettering. Perhaps 300 exist in all grades today, this one clearly nearer the top of those known. Destined for an advanced collection and a sparkling jewel that will grace any numismatic holdings with its many charms and historic rarity. Only 1,120 struck. Pop 22; 13 finer, 9 in 58, 1 in 60, 2 in 61, 1 in 62. (PCGS # 7970) Estimate Value $30,000 - 35,000

1854-O. PCGS graded AU-58. Mostly untoned with lots of mint luster evident. The color is classic orange gold with a touch of russet hues in the lettering. An important offering for the $3 gold specialist or New Orleans Mint officiando. Only 24,000 struck. Pop 27; 3 finer, 1 in 58+, 1 in 61, 1 in 62. (PCGS # 7971) Estimate Value $13,000 - 14,000

1860-S. PCGS graded AU-58. Untoned and with attractive surfaces. This early San Francisco coin is seldom found at all, and with a small mintage of only 7,000 struck. 1881. PCGS graded Proof 64 Deep Cameo. CAC. PQ. A wonderful Gem Deep Cameo proof example with bold contrast and glorious surfaces. The strike is bold throughout. As the $3 denomination waned, production for circulation strikes became quite limited by the time 1881 rolled around. Proof coinage continued as collectors tried to complete their date sets and this cpoin has been carefully saved since its time of issue. This is one of the finest, especially so with this highest degree of contrast. Only 54 examples struck. Pop 2; 3 finer, 1 in 65, 2 in 66. (PCGS # 98045) Estimate Value $25,000 - UP
