1787 Fugio Cent Newman 12-X Rarity-3 AU50. Very attractive frosty medium chocolate brown. Nicely struck and never circulated, but there are two very shallow spots of fine planchet erosion under the 8 in the date and another at the top of the O in FUGIO. Otherwise the only defect is a small planchet flake on the first T in STATES (as struck). Later die state with all the die cracks described by Newman. Most likely from the famous Bank of New York Hoard of Fugio Cents. Listed on page 89 in the "Redbook." Estimate Value $1,000 - UP

1787 Fugio Cent Newman 12-X Rarity-3 NGC graded VF30. Glossy medium brown and light chocolate. The only defects are a few small planchet voids, as struck. A small void at the base of the rings over the W in WE can help identify this piece. The date and legends are complete and easily readable. Late die state, the vertical die crack right of the sun quite prominent. Most likely NOT from the Bank of New York Hoard, and relatively rare as such. Listed on page 89 in the "Redbook." Estimate Value $400 - UP
