Standing Liberty Quarter Dollars

Lot Photo Description Realized
Lot 322
1916. PCGS graded MS-65 Full Head. PQ. A wonderful white gem coin that offers both a sharp strike and fabulous luster. Only 52,000 struck in this first year of issue, and these were released with all the initial 1917 quarters early in that year so no one noticed these 1916 Standing Liberty Quarters until well after most had entered circulation. This particular coin was somehow saved, and given the meager numbers seen at this grade level confirms how unusual the happenstance of saving a 1916 quarter was at the time. This is one of the key dates to the series and a coin which is quite difficult to find at this grade level. Don't miss out if you are seeking a high end example for your advanced date collection. Pop 75; 28 finer at PCGS. (PCGS # 5705) Estimate Value $24,000 - 26,000
