Lot 678
1843-O. Large date, plain 4. PCGS graded MS-62. CAC. PQ. Struck in bright greenish gold with strong luster and great eye appeal. The surfaces are pretty clean with just a few minor nicks and a shallow scuff below Liberty's chin in the field. Rarely are any of these early New Orleans quarter eagles found in mint condition. Here is one of the finer examples known and a coin that is worth a strong bid. The Large Date is easy to discern at the 4 is plain, while the Small Date variety has a crosslet 4 with an extra stroke on the crossbar. Nicely toned. Only 76,000 struck. Pop 6; 1 finer in 63. (PCGS # 7732) Estimated Value $10,000 - UP

Lot 682
1850-C. PCGS graded MS-61. A nice frosty coin which is one of the very finest known of this popular and elusive Charlotte issue. Classic orange gold color throughout, and attractive luster in the fields. The strike is sharp on all of Liberty's curls and the surrounding stars, the reverse shows the usual worn dies around the eagle in the fields, and the large C mintmark shoved high into the base of the branch, arrows and tallons below the eagle. A condition rarity in any Mint State grade. Only 9,148 struck. Pop 7; 5 finer, 4 in 62, 1 in 62+. (PCGS # 7756) Estimated Value $9,000 - 10,000

Lot 683
1851-C. NGC graded MS-61. This is a fairly well struck example of this low mintage date. Only 14,923 struck and from that issue about 125 are known today. The finest is a choice example graded by PCGS, and Mint State pieces are few in number, as most of the surviving coins show considerable circulation. The reverse is well defined on the eagle and legends, while the obverse has a bit of the often seen indistinct appearance. This particular coin is one of the best around and worthy of any top notch Charlotte gold collection. Pop 7; 7 finer at NGC. (PCGS # 7760) Estimated Value $6,500 - 7,000

Lot 684
1854-O. NGC graded MS-63. Some mint luster visible with a mix of lovely light gold toning on both sides. This is a plentiful issue for this time period, and always in demand for the New Orleans mintmark. However, where this particular coin stands really tall is in its majestic grade of Choice BU MS-63. This is one of the absolute finest known of this date and mint. Only 10 or so can claim to be fully Mint State, but in Choice this coin is one of the finest seen. The strike is sharp enough and the surfaces are far nicer than usually encountered. A tremendous example for the date and mint specialist. Pop 3; none finer at NGC. (PCGS # 7772) Estimated Value $7,000 - UP

Lot 685
1856-C. NGC graded MS-61. Well struck and untoned with the usual die issues seen when examined. This issue is always a tad soft on the word LIBERTY on the headband, as well as portions of the eagle. A challenging issue to find at all, especially so in Mint state. Only 7,913 struck of which around 95 are known today per CoinFacts. Hence this is a great opportunity to obtain a high grade example! Pop 8; 4 finer, 2 in 62, 1 in 63, 1 in 64. (PCGS # 7778) Estimated Value $8,000 - 8,500

1857-O. PCGS graded MS-61. CAC. PQ. Boldly struck on all the devices, with a full separation on Liberty's curls as well as the eagle's feathers. The fields and devices are lustrous and frosty with nice gold toning. An expecially handsome coin, with excellent surfaces and rich golden appeal. The O mintmark is large and tucked up under part of the lower arrow feather, as it would otherwise overlap some other letter or device due to its size. Only 34,000 struck. Pop 9; 18 finer, 13 in 62, 5 in 63. (PCGS # 7784) Estimated Value $4,500 - 5,000

1898. PCGS graded Proof 66 Deep Cameo. This is an essentially perfect coin. First off its finer than a typical "Gem" Proof, earning the PR-66 from PCGS. Secondly its has contrast, but not just any contrast buy the maximum contrast seen to earn the Deep Cameo contrast. Only a handful of coins (if any) earn the Deep Cameo contrast. This one is well struck and exceptionally clean in terms on contact. Bold visual appeal in every way and close to perfection in terms of quality. Only 165 struck. Pop 6; 13 finer for Deep Cameo at PCGS. (PCGS # 97924) Estimated Value $19,000 - 20,000

1904. NGC graded Proof 67 Cameo. A blazing white gem proof cameo. A glowing example of this popular late date quarter eagle. The surfaces are pristine with no signs of handling to detract the eye, and the contrast is bold and pleasing. The fields are virtually perfect in their preservation and presentation. All such gold proofs are in high demand today as they are always struck in tiny numbers and survivors are hit or miss. Finding a Superb Gem Proof with Cameo contrast requires patience and a healthy wallet! Only 170 struck. Pop 4; 4 finer for PRCA, 1 in 67 Star, 3 in 68. (PCGS # 87930) Estimated Value $20,000 - UP
